Today is National Nonprofit Day and we celebrate UWCM’s promise to Central Minnesota: to mobilize our community to action so all can thrive.
Through UWCM investments, we improve the health, education and financial stability of individuals and families right here. And we address Central Minnesota’s most urgent needs today for a better tomorrow.
Thank you for partnering with us to make our community a more caring place to work and live. We have proudly served you as one of Central Minnesota’s many phenomenal nonprofits since 1967!
What is Community Resiliency (formerly known as Community Safety Net)? United Way invests in partners and programs that provide emergency food, housing, child care, advocacy and other services to help friends and neighbors navigate challenging situations.
Who needs Community Resiliency help? Those in need could be like John, a single parent who has to go on a job interview but has no one to watch his children … or Amelia, a young mom who must choose between putting gas into her car or buying food for her kids’ next meal … or Juan, a veteran who is unhoused and needs a safe place to sleep.
UWCM invests in organizations that provide short-term help to meet urgent needs and long-term solutions that address the root causes of issues. By dialing 211, Central Minnesotans are able to find resources that can help during difficult times.

Bringing partners together and listening to them is a powerful way UWCM learns about the greatest needs in our area. Find out how we are responding and working to get those who need mental health support in Central Minnesota the services they need.
Working Together for a Healthy Community United Way of Central Minnesota works to interconnect people, professionals and practitioners through time-tested and new approaches that serve to identify and respond to local health concerns and priorities.
Yesterday we provided training for over 30 St. Cloud Area School District 742 staff and other community members to support young people and families as they complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2024-25 academic year. Having support to complete the FAFSA, especially during this past year, is key 🔑 to accessing opportunities for higher education.
This was made possible through community collaboration and funding through a grant from Educational Credit Management Corporation (ECMC). Special thanks to Lori Lemm from St. Cloud Technical & Community College and Deeq Mohamed with St. Cloud Area School District for lending their expert knowledge.
Don't forget! Now through August 16th, you can drop off school supplies at Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union! A big shoutout to them for being our VolunteerUNITED sponsor and helping support students in Central Minnesota! Let's ensure every student has the tools they need to succeed this school year. Drop off your donations today and make a lasting impact!
