Chrysalis Creative
Community sewing studio and shop offering classes, studio time, and both new and resale supplies.
Last chance to replenish your sustainable stash from our resale selection! We have lots of vintage patterns from 1930s+, buttons, trims, elastic, notions and more! Plus all “new” inventory is marked down 30%. Help me clear the shelves!
Open 10-3
I need to be away on Friday, but I hope you'll stop by soon! All resale fabrics and notions are 50% off (fabric's $2/yard or less), and new merch is 30% off. This includes indie patterns, Robert Kaufman Essex linen and Ventana twill, some lightweight cottons and cotton/linen prints perfect for summer sewing. The free scrap bins are also reloaded - come replenish your craft stash!
The ☀️ is out! Mini sidewalk sale activated! Still 25% off store wide! I have a couple of entry-level machines tuned up and ready to find homes! Free books! Here 10-3 today.
This alum and parent is grateful to the student protesters for bringing about this change. Such incredibly poor judgment to let it go on this long.

Work obligations take me away until mid-afternoon. Open tomorrow 10-3, too!
It’s a great time to pick up indie patterns from your faves! Marked down 25% in the shop right now!
***I have a family wedding tomorrow, so will be open 9-12 ***
Last Classes til fall! Zipper Pouch class next Tuesday, a 4-part intro class in May, and a machine maintenance class June 8th.
**Shop News:** When I moved to the larger retail space last year, I imagined that I could balance my primary job, home life, and do enough with Chrysalis to keep my head above water while I figured out what it could be. That has not proven to be the case, especially after my partner and I bought and gutted an old farmhouse at a time when contractors are in short supply. I’m simply spread too thin. So unless someone out there wants to either join me as a partner or take over*, I’m going on hiatus when my current lease expires at the end of June. I’ll still have the online shop, with free local pick-up.
I am immensely grateful for the support and enthusiasm that I received from so many fellow makers! The best part of this by far was meeting you and building community. I intend to keep doing that part, just without the overhead. Think fabric swaps, mending clinics, and social sewing get-togethers.
I’m offering a few more classes before we pack up in mid-June, and will be marking down the inventory so I have less to move/store - look for progressive discounts starting with 25% storewide now, and come in soon for the best selection!
I’m so behind on, well…everything. So - surprise!! - tomorrow evening (Weds 4/3) from 5:30-7:30 we’re doing a basic sewing machine maintenance clinic. $34 for non members, $30 for members - you’ll leave with a clean and oiled machine and the know-how to keep it running smoothly! Register at link in bio. 🫠
Back from vacation, where I got to swim with turtles and stingrays (meet my friend Tiny)🤿
And back to regular hours! Planning classes for the next couple months - what do you want to make/learn?
I’m crispier than kale chips and taking a much-needed break. Thanks to help from working members the shop will be open today and next Friday (March 1 & 8), and tentatively Saturday the 9th. Back to regular hours as of Weds March 13th!
PS: Don’t forget to vote on Tuesday, Vermonters! Our public schools really need our support. ❤️
Here til 3 today. The sun streaming through the windows has me thinking about spring and summer sewing. My sewing intention for February was to make a swimsuit for an upcoming trip - today’s the day! 🩱 🏖️
Will be a little late opening the shop this morning thanks to this girl popping some stitches. 😫 Should be there by 11!
Test print from last night’s block printing workshop — put a bird on it! We had flora and fauna and fun!
Getting excited for our block-printing fabric night next Thursday! (Yep, that’s how I made my logo!)
I’ve collected so many crafting supplies over the years and I like to share them. Join us for a fun Palentine’s Day social craft night! No experience required - this is a low stakes, laid back exploration!
***Announcements!***
1) I’ll be closed this afternoon from 1:30-3+ to take my old kitty to the vet. 🐈
2) new classes are open for registration - link in bio.
3) Free Mending Clinic this Saturday 10-2 (drop-in)

I’m setting short-term sewing intentions this year instead of another futile effort to plan makes too far in the future. For January (give or take) I want to finish my two WIPs: a Haralson Bag that’s a late holiday gift, and a raspberry pageboy cap. And I want to sew and embroider a linen pillowcase for my king-size pillow that currently turtles in and out of a standard case. What are you making this month?
Champ and Memphre are (finally) headed to their new home in Colorado with my twin grandsons! Made using a free pattern from , a velvety ultrasuede remnant, and felt appliqué. My daughter and I designed the posters for each mythical creature in . Now our western kiddos have a little piece of Vermont lore in their lives! 🦕💚
Don’t make me pack these holiday fabrics away. Get a head start on your 2024 crafting 😂
