Our two newest rescues are doing well in quarantine and getting along very well together. It’s always hard for me after we bail them to not have them here right away, but it’s best for them to be stable and a bit stronger before the long trailer ride here.
There’s something in the old man’s eyes that just makes my heart hurt… they look they’ve seen and been through so much. It makes me just want to hug his neck and bury my face into his fur 💔.
Still working on names for these two.. love any and all suggestions you may have!
Thank you again for everyone’s continued support and generosity that allows us to do this work and save these animals ❤️
The senior gelding and grey c**t have been picked up and are at quarantine. I apologize for the delayed update but I have been battling the flu over here 🤒. Will post more updates as they come. Thank you to everyone who helped us in saving them.
Leave name recommendations below!
If you follow our page on Facebook you will recognize this grey c**t because I shared their kill pen video earlier this week. I had assumed that others would bail him, but he is still in there… and even worse, they have just posted that they will be shipping all the horses to slaughter at 10am tomorrow.
I would like to bail him and the adorably sweet senior gelding that is also in the kill pen. Each of their bails are $675 and we will need to raise funds for their shipping and some quarantine as well. I do not have a number yet as to what their shipping will cost, but the unhandled c**t will need a box stall.
Their bail alone is $1,350.00. I will set our fundraiser goal as soon as I have a shipping quote but I didn’t want to wait any longer to start trying to raise funds.
I don’t know if our community will be able to save these two in time, but we’ve worked miracles before 🙏🏼
Please help me to get these horses loaded on a trailer heading to Vermont tomorrow… instead of to their ends 💔

Last week we tragically lost Rosie. I found her peacefully laying in a bed of straw in the barn one morning. There were no signs of distress around her or external injuries. While we will never know exactly what happened, I believe she either had a heart attack or brain aneurism. The rest of the herd is doing well and showing no unusual signs.
It was shocking to find her like that, but also remarkably peaceful at the same time. So often we have to put down horses that are in pain and their bodies are slowly failing them. For Rosie, it looks as if she came into the barn, laid down in a fresh straw bed, and peacefully left this earth.
Rosie played such a monumental role in my understanding of how to care and love rescue horses. She came to us on death’s door, with a one month old baby on her side. And while with us for the last two years, she truly blossomed into a stunning horse. In the beginning, she showed us her strength as a mother, and last summer she showed us her strength as a riding horse. A dependable safe trail horse that truly loved to swim in water.
I don’t know when I will fully process this, but I do feel peace about how she left this world. When I look at Dottie in the pasture I now have a mixture of emotions. I feel a pull on my heart that her mother is gone, and then I also feel an immense amount of responsibility to look out for her for Rosie.
And that’s just what I intend to do…

Running a rescue in Vermont has its challenges, but thanks to we never have to worry about where we will find all of our favorite products. They carry everything we need for our horses, donkeys, goats, ducks, cats, dogs, and even our pig! A one stop shop for everything we need (without having to leave the farm!). And if you know me, you know how much I hate leaving the farm… win/win!
Today Atticus departed on a VERY big adventure. He is on his way to Ocala, FL for the winter with . Sophie is (our trainer) daughter. Sophie has been working under the incredible and we knew this would be an amazing opportunity for our Atticus. ❤️
There is such a stigma attached to the word “rescue”. Most people when they hear a horse is a rescue think, “there must be something wrong with them”, “they should be cheap because they’re a rescue”, “they can’t compete at the levels I want to do”… and it goes on and on.
Many people have been interested in adopting Atticus, but I felt like it was important to me and to the rescue to be a part/ see through the start of his career. To show the world what these horses are capable of and to erase that stigma.
These horses are like my children and they mean so much to me. There are few people in this world I would entrust Atticus with, but Sophie surely is one of them. Like her mother, the horse comes first and the bond she creates with horses is immeasurable. You’ll often find her posting pics ba****ck and bridle-less, and the horses look calm as can be with her on their back.
We are so thrilled for Atticus to go on this adventure to “winter camp” and couldn’t be more ecstatic that he will be learning from and her team.
Have so much fun guys… we will be cheering you on every step of the way up here ❤️

We are getting closer and closer to getting all of us to the new farm, but we need your help for the final push.
We are doing all the labor ourselves to save on costs (like building the run ins, building the stalls, welding the stall bars ourselves, putting in the fencing, running the plumbing… you name it 😅), but we need your help to get the necessary materials to build it all. The giant run in shed is almost complete and yesterday we picked up some stall mats and wood for stall dividers. This is a HUGE undertaking, but we know the end result will be so worth it.
It was hard this year to not save a horse on Christmas like we usually do, but we aren’t in a financial position to help more horses until this project is done.
Which is why I’m asking for you all to consider an end of the year donation to help us build a dream sanctuary for years to come. I hate fundraising, but it’s crucial for us to get these projects paid for and be able to move the horses to the new farm.
Thank you all for your continued support 🙏🏼
