A SOLA STORY - TIM STAHR🫶
Every support staff team member has a unique story...
..and this one is all about giving back. “It’s not about me,” he says. “It’s about helping people out. I never do this to make myself better; I volunteer because I find purpose in helping others.”

Tim, our Operations Director, has dedicated time to building houses for low-income families locally through Habitat for Humanity. He got involved when a friend suggested it, and together, they have worked on several houses in North Minneapolis. This experience sparked Tim’s passion for building and for helping others.

Tim’s commitment to service extends beyond Habitat for Humanity as well. He has participated in many other charitable activities, including assisting with food donations and serving holiday meals. These experiences are a family affair, coordinating efforts to serve those in need. “It makes me appreciate everything I have now and what I’ve had in the past. It makes me think about how fortunate I am to be where I am today.”

Working his new role with allows Tim to fulfill his desire to help others on a daily basis. He loves what Sola stands for and how we create new entrepreneurs achieve their dreams of business ownership. “It is very grounding,” he reflects. “Seeing the joy and thankfulness, along with the heartfelt happiness that the Sola professionals experience makes me very thankful.”

✨SOLA SPOTLIGHT: OLIVIA REYES✨

Olivia has always been passionate about getting her hair done and styling her friends’ hair, but she didn’t initially consider it a career. She spent two years in college in Duluth and then worked various retail jobs before deciding to attend Aveda Institute MPLS.

“It was basically a leap of faith and honestly the best decision I have ever made!”

Her favorite part of being a hairstylist is building strong relationships with her clients, many of whom have been with her since her first salon job. She cherishes being a part of their lives, providing a safe space for them to be themselves!

“I get to be a part of all the important things happening in their lives; good & bad. I love being a safe space for people to come and relax, vent & just vibe. Being a stylist lets my brain go free & create while also making people feel good!”

Transitioning to her own studio at Sola was a pivotal moment in Olivia’s career.

“I found out I was pregnant right before I got the call that a studio was available for me which made the decision a little bit more nerve-racking. But meeting with Savannah and seeing the space changed EVERYTHING. I was able to move everything over and get things set up without having to worry about anything.”

Olivia’s brand, Olivia’s World, is all about making everyone feel comfortable and welcomed. She strives to offer beauty for everyone, inviting clients into her world and ensuring they feel at home in her studio.

“I always say Olivia’s World is beauty for the rest of us! I strive to make EVERYONE comfortable and welcomed. When you come to my studio you’re coming into my whole world.”

Nicci’s journey as a hairstylist is a remarkable one, starting at a young age when she discovered her passion for styling her younger sister’s hair and experimenting with makeup. Immediately after high school, Nicci’s passion led her to enroll in hair school, setting the stage for her successful career.

“I used to style and braid my friend’s hair for our volleyball games. It made me fall fast I went to hair school directly out of high school and started my passion and my first love!”

With 14 years of experience in the industry, Nicci finds immense fulfillment in the relationships she builds with her clients and thrives on staying updated with the latest trends and techniques through continuous education.

“My favorite thing about my career is that I get to hang with all my amazing clients and I also love that it is always changing. Education and learning the next trend or new technique is something I genuinely look forward to.”

Greg , a dedicated barber at Sola Salons in Woodbury, grew up in Kansas City before moving to Minnesota at the age of 15. His passion for art and creativity has always been a driving force in his life, making the beauty industry a perfect outlet for his talents.

With hard work and a clear vision, Greg achieved his dream of entrepreneurship in 2013! His wife Jamie’s encouragement, played a pivotal role in helping him open his business at 💈

Father’s Day holds a special place in Greg’s heart. For Greg, Father’s Day is about appreciating what truly matters – his faith, his family, his community, and the love that surrounds him. He believes it’s not about material things, but the connections and love shared with loved ones. Being a father has profoundly influenced Greg’s approach to running his business. The love and joy he finds in his family are reflected in his work, creating a warm and nurturing environment for his clients. Greg takes pride in seeing his family, business, and community grow, and he remains committed to his faith and the relationships that sustain him.

Balancing fatherhood and business ownership is a challenge Greg tackles with presence, consistency, humility, and gratitude. He strives to spend quality time with his children, maintaining an open and honest dialogue with them, his family, and his business. Greg understands that life moves fast, and he works diligently to balance his responsibilities, ensuring that he is always there for his family.

Through fatherhood, Greg has learned invaluable lessons that have enriched his business journey. He compares the process of running a business to watching his children grow – starting with crawling, learning to stand, and eventually walking on their own. “Father’s Day is always special because it coincides with my anniversary with my wife, Coley Paskey. We usually celebrate by spending quality time together as a family at our cabin, where we got married, cherishing both occasions. Balancing the demands of being a father and a business owner involves creating a focused and inviting work atmosphere for my clients during the day. In the evenings, I set aside dedicated time to spend with my family, ensuring that I can be present and involved in both aspects of my life.

I began my journey in the tattoo industry in 2002, undertaking a traditional tattoo apprenticeship with Shahn Anderson at Electric Dragon Land. I was inspired to open my own business at this location to create a more private studio for my clients. This move also allows me to achieve a better life and work balance, giving me more opportunities to spend quality time with my family.”

“I am always changing and growing and to be able to have a space that genuinely represents me, and my goals is so amazing.”

“I like to think I give people a space to be themselves. Not just during Pride Month but every day of the year. That means holding the place for success and celebration but also heartache and strife. ✨Meet Bobbi, Our Newest Addition to Sola Salons Uptown✨

Bobbi’s path to becoming a tattoo artist wasn’t easy. She worked in a shop where toxic masculinity was prevalent, and the competitive nature of the industry was disheartening. Despite these challenges, she remained committed to her clients, building meaningful relationships and connections. However, she realized that to truly thrive, she needed her own space—one that reflected her values and vision.
Bobbi’s main goal is to create a safe and comfortable environment for her clients, knowing that getting a tattoo is a vulnerable experience. With six years of tattooing experience, she has honed her skills to bring any vision to life, mastering the fine line tattoos. For Bobbi, tattooing is more than a job—it’s a passion that began when she was just eight years old.

Bobbi’s mother, an interior designer, nurtured her creative spirit. Growing up, she saw her mom always at the drawing board, which sparked her dream of being an artist. Her father, a volleyball player with a sense of humor, has a tattoo of Gumby, and that’s when Bobbi knew tattoos is where it’s at! By the time she was 15, Bobbi was seeking apprenticeships and finally secured one at 18.

Now, Bobbi is so excited to open her own studio in Minneapolis, that is set to launch around July 1st. Her studio will feature a super Zen vibe with plants, a fountain, white walls, and bright, comfortable spaces. She aims to create a welcoming and non-intimidating atmosphere, perfect for nature connoisseurs and peace activists like herself.☮️

With her books now open, she’s ready to welcome new clients into her very own tattoo shop!
