We've got quite the variety this time including a couple of different fluted lamps in aluminum, brass, and bakelite and two lamps in a dark copper finish that are perfect for that cozy corner or small desk space. Or if you need just a pop of color we've got a beautiful segmented catalin lamp in apple green that has been beautifully polished to bring out those marbled colors.

Available NOW! Check out this streamlined Chase Creamer and Sugar bowl from the late 1930s. They are in good vintage condition, exhibiting only minimal signs of wear.

It is believed that the Kent Creamer and Sugar bowl were designed by a staff designer at Chase to go along with the Chase Comet kettle that was designed by Walter Von Nessen.

Boasting a timeless machine age aesthetic, this rare set of six Walter Von Nessen attributed cocktail cups is perfect for enhancing any gathering with their chrome-plated brass bases and rich cobalt blue glass inserts, these cups designed in the late 1920s, proudly feature streamlining disc elements that would become popular later in the 1930s. Cork bottoms add to the classic look.

Walter von Nessen was born in Berlin, Germany in 1889. In 1925 he immigrated to the United States and opened Nessen Studios in New York City. His designs helped bring European modernism and a focus on the “machine” to light within American design.

Known for his innovative modern designs, von Nessen had an experimental solution-oriented approach to design. He continually worked to improve existing designs to make them more functional for the end user. For example, the torchiere floor lamp pictured uses concentric stacking cones as a way of not only providing vertical lighting (traditional torchiere) but also light that flowed from the edges of the shade to provide more ambient lighting to the room.

In 1931, von Nessen began a relationship with the Chase Brass Co and began designing a large variety of products (over 60) for them including serveware like the Comet Tea Kettle and Kent Creamer/Sugar that are pictured. These von Nessen designs for Chase are highly collectible and found in many museum collections around the world, but since they were mass produced they are pretty easy to find in antique shops and flea markets!

DECO FACTS: The art deco pyramid motif can be traced to the 1922 discovery of King Tut's Tomb in Egypt.

Donald Deskey was born in Blue Earth Minnesota in 1894 and later went on to study architecture at the University of California. He did not follow the traditional path of an architect, instead becoming an artist and turning his attention to industrial design. After a few years in the consulting business he set up his own firm, “Deskey-Vollmer” in New York City. Known for his iconic window display designs, he was later picked to design interiors for the Radio City Music Hall. Several of his lighting designs are among the most iconic in the early 20th century and are HIGHLY sought after by private collectors and museums alike. His approach to lighting was very experimental and his designs showcase a deep consideration of light and how it interacts with the environment around it. Later in the 1940s Deskey went on to have a prolific career in graphic design where he worked on iconic designs for brands such as Crest and Tide.
