Recently completed project: 4Bells restaurant on Loring Park in Minneapolis - The flooring is Ipe, aka Brazilian walnut, finished with one coat of sealer and three coats poly, plus two coats ceramic fortified and catalyzed poly. A UV process speeds up the drying/curing time needed before the floor can be used. Ipe is one of the densest hardwoods available, three times harder than cedar. Ipe has the same fire rating as concrete and steel, meaning it resists flames much longer than softer woods.
