My epic century ride is just 3 weeks away. I'm doing this ride as a fundraiser for something dear to my heart, WNAP FM radio. Being a volunteer DJ on this station is like a dream come true for me, but if we don't get a lot more folks to donate to the station, the dream could come crashing down. So far I have $125 in pledges toward my goal of $1000. I've been spending a whole lot of time on a bicycle seat to prepare for this. I know that I have well over 1000 Facebook friends. If even half of them gave just $5, I'd be way over the goal. All contributions are tax deductible. WNAP plays only music from the 60s and 70s, has no annoying political ads or other types of commercials, there are 5000 songs in the music library, and we play them all. Since January of this year, I have been involved with a wonderful group of colleagues at WNAP-FM in Indianapolis. I am a disc jockey at the station and my show is on Monday through Thursday evenings from 8 PM to midnight Eastern time and can be streamed worldwide at wnapfm.com. This station plays all 60s and 70s oldies and is non-commercial, listener supported. Our listener group is growing, as is our donor group, but the donor growth is slow. We depend 100% on donor contributions to stay on the air. I believe in this station so much that I decided to do more than to just donate money. On May 29, 2024, I plan to ride my bicycle 100 miles as a fundraiser for the station, and I am currently accepting pledges for the ride. No amount is too small, and all will add up toward my goal of raising $1000 from this ride. Parts are in from Taiwan! Give us a few days to get all of them checked in and up on the web site. We got in 5000 reflector sets plus a crap ton of brackets for them. There’s lots of budget priced saddles, vee-brake screw on brake blocks, and above bar friction shifters. We’re restocked on most of our top sellers.

The big day is finally here! we are getting all our backordered parts from Taiwan. Our warehouse lacks a dock, so we will have to use a pallet jack to get the pallets to our door, then we have to break them down and carry the stuff inside. We just finished clearing the snow from the road so there is a path for the pallet jack. My toes are already cold. When we say that Midway is a mom and pop company, we mean it. There’s just us geezers to bring in the load.

After a road trip to acquire a nice stash of tires, tunes, shifters, chains, and saddles, we are back at it! All you folks who placed orders while we were on the road, we will ship them today. Orders received today will go out tomorrow. Then back to our regular schedule. Look for the new merchandise to hit the web site over the weekend.

Midway Bicycle Supply does not sell bicycles. Why not? Because twice we have agreed to distribute bicycle brands and both times it did not end well. Just got a message from some woman in China who wants me to sell their bikes. The answer is NO. We will stick to what we do best - selling repair parts for the bicycles that the majority of folks ride. No carbon fiber, no titanium, not much high end stuff. Just the stuff you need to fix ordinary bicycles. Bike parts for the rest of us.
