Advanced Masonry Restoration held its annual 2024 Safety Meeting this month! The Safety Meeting is crucial to AMR’s success as we prioritize our employees’ safety by revisiting our top-tier safety training to ensure everyone remains current on safety measures and policies.

We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to our team at Advanced Masonry Restoration: Al Nelson! With over 30 years of experience in the masonry restoration industry, Al joins us as our new Project Manager.

Al brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team, dealing in various aspects of masonry restoration throughout his extensive career.

In his role as Project Manager, Al is excited to foster new relationships, both personal and professional, and help grow AMR's concrete, traffic coating, and masonry restoration projects. His dedication to excellence aligns perfectly with AMR's commitment to staying at the forefront of our field.

Advanced Masonry Restoration will officially be at the A'23 Minnesota Conference on Architecture at The Depot in Minneapolis on November 14-15!

We are excited to be able to showcase some of the wonderful restoration work we have completed with Minnesota's architectural community. Hopefully we see you there!

At Roselawn Cemetery, while Advanced Masonry Restoration is replacing entire sections of the walls, our skilled workers are using new stone to match the original with the correct mortar.

At Roselawn Cemetery, Advanced Masonry Restoration is currently replacing entire sections of the stone walls. A previous repointing project had utilized too hard of a mortar and this resulted in the shattering of some of the stone. AMR has the knowledge and skills needed for a repair of this type, and it shows in our craftsmanship.

Advanced Masonry Restoration is in the process of restoring the Roselawn Cemetery building in Roseville, Minnesota back to the original look.

At the La Salle Condo Project in Minneapolis, MN, Advanced Masonry Restoration will be painting over the slab edges of the balconies after applying the traffic coatings. Currently, we are over 50% of the way through this restoration!

After the Advanced Masonry Restoration crew have installed new railings at the La Salle Condo Project in Minneapolis, MN, they are removing the tile on some of the balconies and then applying a traffic coating to every balcony.

For the second phase of the restoration of Assumption Church in St. Paul, MN, Gunderson Construction will be adding an addition on the south side.

Advanced Masonry Restoration will be cladding the new building with St. Croix Valley Stone to blend it to the original building which will keep the overall look but will not match exactly for historical reasons.

Once the second phase is complete, the building will be fully renovated inside and out and will be used again as a school!

Throughout this second phase restoration process, AMR will constantly keep you updated!

At Advanced Masonry Restoration's La Salle Condo Project in Minneapolis, Minnesota, our talented crew is currently removing old railings and installing new railings. By the time the project is completed, more than 200 railings will have been replaced.

On the East elevation of the Assumption Church restoration project in St. Paul, the wall has been moved and separated from the interior. Working with Miller Dunwiddie Architects and Matson McDonald Young engineers, Advanced Masonry Restoration are pinning the inside and outside wythes to stabilize the wall into place.

Advanced Masonry Restoration is proud to have completed the restoration of the Grand Staircase at Riverplace in Minneapolis, Minnesota! Here are some before and after photos of the restoration.

In addition to tuckpointing the terra cotta mortar joints on the Jacobson Building, Advanced Masonry Restoration is also replacing the sealant on windows and expansion joints.

Update on the first phase of the restoration of Assumption Church in St. Paul, Minnesota! On the original school building, 4 window sills will be replaced with a new St. Croix Valley Stone that will match the originals. The window sills that are deteriorated but have remained solid are having a mortar wash put on top in order to shed water and preserve the original sills.

Advanced Masonry Restoration is proud to be restoring the historic Jacobson Building in Albert Lea, Minnesota. While the new terra cotta components are being produced, we are tuckpointing 100% of the terra cotta mortar joints on the building!

Advanced Masonry Restoration is currently restoring Assumption Church in St. Paul, Minnesota in two phases. The first phase is being completed on the original school building that was built in 1864 and hasn't been used in decades. AMR is tuckpointing the school that was built out of Platteville limestone and due to the deterioration of the stone, we are replacing three of the Quoin Corners.

This Memorial Day, and every day, Advanced Masonry Restoration remembers those who have lost their lives in military service. To our brave heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, we thank you and honor you.

We lost a great friend and colleague here at AMR, Adam Brown passed away. He had been with us since 2004 and is loved and remembered for his kindness and sense of humor. Our sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

Update on Advanced Masonry Restoration's Grand Staircase project at Riverplace in Minneapolis, Minnesota. All 10 stair treads and the 5 landings and buttresses fit perfectly back into their original place after the installation of the new granite and railings! The restoration is coming along nicely!

The dismantling of the terra cotta cornice has been completed, as well as the new drawn up plans to replace the structural steel that was worn down. The new terra cotta components are in production and are scheduled to be shipped from California by mid June!

One of Advanced Masonry Restoration's current projects is The Grand Staircase at Riverplace in Minneapolis. Our highly skilled masons have removed 276 pieces of granite along with the existing waterproofing system and railings. We are in the process of installing a new waterproofing system, followed with the installation of new granite and railings back in their original places.
