Empower was conceptualized by Kerri Maphis and Vanessa Solomon out of friendship, a shared vision, and a calling to make a difference in their community. It didn’t take long for their dream to become a reality and Empower opened its doors in January of 2020. Our mission at Empower is to support our community through our time and talents. Our goal is to equip each guest with the knowledge of self-care and to enhance their individual beauty and vision of self love while empowering them to reach for more of what they were made for.

This Thanksgiving, we're faced with a unique challenge, but together, we can overcome it! Our annual Thanksgiving Edition Pop-Up Pantry, a crucial operation to provide free groceries for around 350 families is still full speed ahead!

🏡 In light of recent circumstances with our center, we've lost our home base to receive in-kind donations.

While some partners are holding items for us, we still have ground to cover to ensure no one goes without a Thanksgiving meal. ➡️

Now more than ever we need to alleviate this financial burd to ensure they have time with loved ones and a meal to celebrate the Holiday! ✨

🛒 We're purchasing essential items to meet our goal, and your support is crucial! Whether it's $5, $15, $25, or more, every contribution counts.

At the end of the day we were able to collect about 50 boxes of clothing for men, women, and children in our community.

When we visioned Empower, it was about more than hair. It was about community; it was about you. So many of you show up continuously to support us and for that we couldn’t be more grateful. 🤍 We are proud to be your community partner and best salon experience in St. Pete!!! ☀️

We get so many calls asking about if we do short hair. The answer is YES! We will try to do better about posting our short hair transformations. 😃

We also provide men’s cuts with the same excellent salon experience provided to our ladies. 💫

🚨 NOW ACCEPTING DONATIONS 🚨

We are so excited to kick off our 2nd Annual Clothing Swap benefitting ! This year will have a lot of similarities— great clothes and great people benefitting a great cause with snacks and bevs. You will also see some differences— for every trash bag of clothes you donate, you will receive (1) token to redeem for a bag to fill the day of the swap. (If it fits it flies!)

We will also be selling tokens for those who want to participate but don’t want to donate any items with 100% of the proceeds going to Reach St. Pete. Tokens will be sold 1 for $25, 2 for $40 and 4 for $50. These may be purchased in advance or day of event.

Please hold on to your tokens for the day of the event. With the overwhelming response we had to last year’s Clothing Swap, we will not be keeping track of who donated, and have replaced that system with the tokens. 🧡

Clean out those closets, freshly launder your items, and get them to us all month long! Donations will close Friday October 27th to prep and organize for the actual clothing swap event on Saturday November 4th.

Can’t wait to see familiar faces and hope to welcome many new people into our space. 🙏🏼
