Location: Masai Mara, Kenya. The herds are now in the Masai Mara, grazing on the lush grasses. They need to be super alert though as predation by lions and other predators is at its peak.

We love this baby elephant, spotted strolling in the heart of Tanzania. There is something magical about witnessing these gentle giants in their natural habitat, especially the little ones just starting their journey.

The herds are starting to gather in the northern Serengeti, preparing to cross the Mara River into Kenya. This river crossing can prove perilous, as crocodiles await the wildebeest.

Singita Ebony Lodge, South Africa has been given a fabulous new look. This iconic lodge has been revitalised, a Conservation room has been added where guests can interact with numerous displays that celebrate the biodiversity of the Sabi Sand, and the history of Ebony Lodge and a new lounge area offers a space for guests to read, play board games and relax.

Binoculars are an essential item for any safari to observe the vast and wonderful array of wildlife.

Hippos! What fascinating creatures.

Despite their seemingly docile appearance, hippos are fiercely territorial and can be extremely aggressive, especially when defending their young and territory.

Hippos possess incredibly powerful jaws and sharp teeth. Their mouths can open almost 180 degrees.
Their skin secretes a thick, oily red substance, often referred to as “blood sweat,” which acts as a moisturizer, sunscreen, and antibiotic.

They congregate in groups called “pods” or “bloats,” around 10 to 30 individuals.

You’ll mainly hear them at night-time as they are nocturnal and venture onto land at night to graze.

Samburu welcomes a new resident!

Four white rhino now call Sera Wildlife Conservancy home after their successful translocation from Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Guests of the newly reopened Saruni Rhino can witness white rhino along with the 21 black rhino during their time on the community-owned and operated conservancy.

We always keep abreast of the best properties in Africa and are delighted that this great new property is opening this July 2024. Kipeleo will be an exquisite retreat with 5 rooms, built into the edge of the Kileeoni Hill, the highest point in the Maasai Mara.
