Yahoo, let's get out there, yall! This is the best time of year for all things fly fishing in Tampa/St. Pete! A beautiful big-little tarpon specimen caught this morning on board the Slay Sled II!

We are Tampa Bay's premiere fly fishing specialists. We understand all the nuances big and small associated with fly fishing in saltwater. This is especially true for those of you trying this for the 1st time. We'll never ask you to pull out a spinning rod, even when the going gets tough. We are fly fishing lifers with 40+ years of combined experience, dealing with every imaginable fly scenario. We love fly fishing those bluebird sky and calm wind days, but we've also been known to catch fish on fly during a hurricane. So yeah, you can say we have a very large bag of tricks to help you succeed, despite the weather or your skill level.

Capt. Matt with an unexpected rescue mission while on dawn patrol this am. Lil fuzzy dude got caught up in the tide and forgot to do the parallel swim thing. Haha! Now time to go slay!

Have you ever caught your pb on your last cast with the reel-in? John from Texas did just that yesterday, with a 40.5 inch slab of meat!
In our world of saltwater on the fly, once the "last cast" declaration has been made, you have a total of 3 "last casts": The courtesy cast, the finale cast, and the cast out with the reel-in. First cast always counts the most, but don't underestimate the last 3.

We'll stick it out with you, no matter how bad it gets...cold, rain, wind...as long as there's no lighting. If there's lighting we're headed back to the ramp. Lol! With the wind howling over 20 knots we tucked in tight and found some goldie nuggs creepin around in the grass.

It was a solid gold afternoon for Slayla. We boated 6, including one 41+ and a couple on poppers! Contact us if you're planning to be in the Nola or St. Pete areas in January or February, we have several open days.

It was cold ayy eff up in this bitch! Mom Nature threw a blankie over us, turned the fan on high and lowered the air, but we still managed to do the thing with the help of our redfish goggles and, Michelle, code name Hawkeye!

Many thanks to our good friend, Petre , for including GCF on his elite team of fly fishing guides this week. We fished a large, fantastic group of folks that were an absolute blast! Hope we can do it again next year....just maybe with a little more light. Orrrr maybe less wind. Lol Brrrr! 🥶

It's said, to be a good fly fishing guide you must first be a great fly fisherman, and I can't think of anyone who exemplifies this more than Capt. Matt. When he's not working hard to get his customers hooked up, he's on the water monitoring, surveying, and doing his thing....slayin!

We're not fly fishing snobs, but we are very proud to be one of the few fly fishing only guide services in Florida and Louisiana. We don't put the fly rods away and use spinning gear when the going gets tough. We are fly fishing specialists, used to finding solutions to help our customers, not just catch fish, but to do it on fly. After all, it only counts on fly, right?! We get that! If it were just about hauling meat into the boat, we'd be commercial fisherman.
