When my friends invite me over to hang out lol.
Our basement has been a storage space since we moved in a few months back. A place for us to throw all of our stuff we didnāt know what to do with. But alas, I finished unboxing the rest of our stuff, donated what we didnāt need, and sold some other stuff too.
Now this space is functional and aesthetic and we have another room to escape to when the kids are being rowdy upstairs lol. Plus, artwork looks real pretty up there.
Oh, and Livvy still hates clothes! š

Feeling emotional today watching the university liberation encampments pop up all over the nation. If youāre someone who has been screaming into what has felt like the void for the past 200+ days, youāre likely feeling the same way.
The world can be dark and violent, but this solidarity movement is giving hope. Itās beautiful to witness people in mass showing up for each other, for humanity. Change is possible and Iām proud of every student occupying their college campuses right now, fighting for a better future, a better world.
Keep saying Free Palestine.
Til itās backwards!
My girl took her first yoga class with me tonight and loved it. I always knew we were besties but itās for real for real now! š¤š«¶š¼ā¤ļø
A spelt flour pot pie, because ancient grains need love too!
Did you know Spelt is an ancient grain that is closely related to wheat as far as flavor profile goes, but it has a lower gluten content and a lower fructan content making it much easier on digestion. teaches us that you are not what you eat per se, but instead you are what you digest.
Minding your digestion is a great practice in awareness, and digestion goes far beyond just what you eat, but also what you see, hear, think and feel. Have you ever considered how you are digesting, absorbing, assimilating and/or eliminating ALL of your lifeās experiences?
Really missing this crew and eating all of the inspiring creations at .nyc ! ā¤ļøšš¼
Resistā¦
Because humanity depends on it.
Because Palestinians deserve the right to self determination.
Because settler colonialism is violent.
Because children deserve their innocence.
Because starving an entire population is barbaric.
Because the land deserves respect and care.
Because dehumanizing an entire people is unacceptable.
Because health-workers deserve safety.
Because journalists should be able to spread truth.
Because aid workers should never be targets.
Because people deserve the ability to worship in peace.
Because Zionism is innately harmful.
Because genocide is NEVER okay.
Because Palestine should be free!
šµšø I will treasure this Kufiya forever and make sure that the history my children learn and study in their lifetimes reflect the truth and realities we have been bearing witness to.
I spent all week in New York celebrating Ayurveda and food and while my studies were joyous, there was a little guilt that would rise every time Iād post an image of food knowing very well there is an entire population who has been deprived of it at the hands of not only Netanyahu but our government as well.
I spent my last evening in New York, intentionally paying my respects to the first Palestinian chef to open a restaurant in the city. The entire menu was full of traditional Palestinian staples and the flavors, spices and olive oil alone were enough to send me into a state of pure bliss.
Iāll continue to be a voice that speaks up and speaks out against injustice and will make sure that I live in a way that continues to honor and uplift indigenous voices. Colonial violence is alive and real and we all need to be doing our part to fight the the harm being perpetuated in this world.
Thank you Chef Tarek Daka for proudly telling the story of Palestine through your food.

Still playing around with food styling on this one. Having a little bit of a hard time with it because of all the mushy textures and lack of real dense ingredients! blew my mind with her food styling course and now thereās too much too think about! š¤£š
Loving the challenge though!
Iāve been recipe testing my final project for my culinary program with all day and itās still being revised but THE FLAVOR CHECKS ALL THE WAY OUT! š
I have an ongoing love affair with both Traditional Mexican and Indian cuisine and the idea of creating a dish that was a bit of a cultural fusion but still honored ayurvedic principles has been floating around in my mind for quite awhile. I had a ton of fun conceptualizing this dish, using the general structure of a Mexican Tostada but infusing it with some classic Indian ingredients and spices.
Pictured is my āAyurTostada with Red Lentil Pate and Fresh Cheeseā. Itās comprised of a from scratch Papadum made with chickpea and rice flours and toasted cumin seeds. Instead of a sour cream I made a cucumber mint raita. In place of a refried bean I made a red lentil pĆ¢tĆØ and topped it with some sliced zucchini and squash. I truly love Cotija cheese but in the name of Ayurveda, I replaced it with a fresh paneer crumble I made and then garnished it all with some sliced green chili peppers, cilantro and a squeeze of lime! š¤¤š¤¤š¤¤š¤¤
Still working out the kinks but already blown away with where this concept is going. So incredibly delicious in its first draft! Iām not normally so brag-a-docious lol, but Iām feeling this one! š¤š¤š¤

Currently recipe testing my final project for my Ayurvedic Culinary program with . Canāt wait to share my final concept with you, itās been really fun to challenge myself and create something original in reverence to Ayurvedic teachings.

The crust is formed of walnuts, pecans, cashews, coconut meat, dates and lime zest and was equally crumbly and moist.

It took us 35+ years š
but we finally did it, officially homeowners!
The market is absolutely bananas and we tried buying last year but just werenāt able to. We began working with who was our saving grace! After feeling entirely let down by other lending companies and developersā¦she helped us to put a plan in action. We spent the last year working to pay down debt, and getting our ducks in a row. I didnāt feel like we were ready but she assured me it was possible, and I believed her! So we leaned in, trusted her process and continued to put one foot in front of the other. Her team worked so hard for usā¦.advocating on our behalf which built so much trust! We literally couldnāt have done it without her, her vision, and her educating us along the way! I never once felt judged for our short comings or lack of finances which made us feel so supported and seen!
Massive shout out to our realtor whom I met in the Mysore room at when we first moved out to Colorado! We connected over Ashtanga, Ayurveda and Motherhood immediately and then I found out she worked in real estate too and I just knew sheād take great care of us. Everyone needs a Yogi realtor, canāt change my mind! She is the one who recommended us to Molly and the two of them were our DREAM TEAM FOR REAL! Over the past year of us searching and simultaneously trying to get our finances right, we continued to keep in touch and chat about our goals and Brianna was there every step of the way! She never tried to push us in any one direction or the other, simply provided me with information so I could form my own opinions. Ultimately, she told me to trust my intuition and lean into those gut feelings when they arise and thatās what we did! This house popped on the market, in our school district, and checked so many of our boxes. Bri took us to a showing the next day and 24 hours later we went under contract. It feels like it all happened so fastā¦but it really didnāt! Weāve been laying the ground work for the past few years and everything aligned in divine timing.
We did it, ! Canāt wait to make this house a home with you and our girls! ā¤ļøš”
Enormously humbled to have had my graduation project for the ANACT program over the Summer recognized by Divya herself! She is a creative genius when it comes to food as medicine and Iām so honored to hear and SEE š that she loved my dish. Just look at what a beautiful job she did! š„²
I am a BIG fan of comfort food, give me all the things sweet and savory! š I used a classic recipe for a traditional Canadian poutine and elevated it with more wholesome ingredients and Ayurvedic principles so itās not just tastyā¦but agreeable with our body, mind and soul!

This past month in my culinary program we learned how to cook traditional Italian cuisine through an Ayurvedic lens and I am STILL inspired by that weekends teachings.
One of our assignments was to create our own Ayurvedic Risotto recipe and this was the concept I createdā¦
Grounding Root Vegetable Risotto š
I wanted to challenge the general idea that we can only rely on the taste of a meal to achieve balance, and wanted to lean on our other sensory perceptions.
While the dish and the ingredients I chose were heavier in nature to pacify Vata and the qualities of the Winter seasonā¦I wanted the color and aromatics of the dish to be energizing and uplifting. And WOW! The addition of lime juice and fresh dill really brought the aroma while the purple sweet potatoes, golden beets and carrots brought the perfect pop of color!
I made an Äyurvedic Nut Loaf for family dinner tonight. Itās like the sattvic version of a meatloaf, but honestly more herbaceous and delish!
Itās prepared with fresh and homemade crumbled cheese. A spread of a tamarind ketchup. Freshly chopped basil, sage, thyme, fennel and celery lightly sautĆ©ed in homemade ghee and all held together with some cooked basmati and coarsely ground walnuts, cashews and almonds.
So grateful for all of the tasty and inspiring homework assignments coming out of my Ayurvedic Nutrition and Culinary Training.
So looking forward to getting in the kitchen with this April! Our New York intensive cannot come soon enough!š©š¼āš³

I forgot how much I GENUINELY enjoy teaching yoga outside of a yoga studio.
Meeting people on the mat who have likely never even stepped on the mat before is THEE best, in my opinion.
I love helping people get to know their bodies and to fall in love with their bodies in new and inspiring ways.
I love empowering people and giving them tools to sharpen their awareness so that they can be THEIR OWN teacher, so they donāt ever have to look outside of themselves again.
We give so much of our power away and to things outside of ourselves, itās truly an honor to help people take some of that power back and give them permission to do so!
I aspire to be a teacher that sits before you humbly, walking this path alongside you. We step into the room as equals and I actively work to break down any barriers that create a hierarchy of experience and diminish unhealthy power dynamics that have existed in yoga spaces for too long.
This practice is for everyone, truly.
To teach is to be of service, and Iāve always felt that way. It feels really good to be plugged back into a community, to share and to be inspired by new faces.
Iāve shown up at 6am for two weeks and havenāt had a single soul in my classroomā¦but this morning I had THREE people for the first time and I was elated. It felt intimate and connected and to be honestā¦.thatās where Iām at these days.
Over the last decade Iāve taught yoga to PACKED rooms, even fields of hundreds of peopleā¦but let me tell youā¦there is SO much magic in the quieter spaces, in the small classes and in the genuine connections formed and I am fully HERE FOR IT! š
Excited to be a part of this budding yoga program at .

Fresh cheese, fresh whey, fresh ghee!
These are all staples in my home and their uses are endless and always nourishing. If youāre run down, if you are always pulling from your reserves, if depletion is your middle nameā¦THESE powerhouses are your remedies when the dairy is sourced mindfully. Time tested wisdom gifted to us from Ayurved, I bow down humbly, always! šš¼
Pro-Tip: After you make your cheese, please do not discard the remaining whey!!! It can be re-purposed to up the nutritional content in your other dishesā¦
š„ You can use it to replace the water in any recipe while bakingā¦use it to knead your dough, use it for fresh bread, muffins, biscuits, even tortillas!
šYou can add a few teaspoons to your soaking water when pre-soaking whole grains, legumes. It helps to reduce the phytic acid making it more digestible.
š¶ You can use it to speed up fermentation times, I use it to help speed fermentation for certain veggie chutneys I make.
š¹Throw it into fresh juices or smoothies to up the protein and probiotic!
š„ Use it to cook your rice or to reduce your curriesā¦so many potentials!

The divine feminine urge within me right now to soften, open and pour love feels uncomfortable and painful but like a right of passage. Just as it was birthing my children.
When your called to be a Mother, there is a certain level of grief and pain that you sign up forā¦and that is the cost you pay in order to love as deeply as Mothers do. The burden and the blessing ā being able to see the world through the lens of Mother. The grief ā loving every child as your own but only having the capacity to truly nurture those within arms reach. The responsibility we incur for our own, and adopt for others can feel so overwhelming at times but is matched with an unwavering pride. I am proud to be a Mother, and to mother. A noun, and a verb!
There is a ferocity that is innate to a Mother, itās biological and primal, our need to protect. And it serves, selflessly. Over and over again. The literal sound of a babyās cry, whether a Motherās own or a strangers, triggers a physiological response. Itās not by chanceā¦itās a reminder of our purpose here. To tend to, to comfort, to take care of.
The grief Iāve felt and leaned into over this past 27 days is heavier than anything Iāve ever felt. God is asking me to stay open, to see, and to feel it all, which is exhausting but necessaryā¦and the very least I could do.
I remind myself of Durga Ma, the manifestation of Devi, who was originally created to defeat the demon, Mahishasura. It was only a Woman who could defeat him and while she was equipt with weaponry, it was only the flow of her divine feminity that allowed her to slay the demon. Brahma granted Mahishasura the boon of immortality from men and animals after much penance, but told him that a Woman would be the death of him. Too egoic, too proud to heed the warning, he met his demise! The Mother has an unwavering strength that resides within her, but her biggest flex is her feminine essence.
May we not allow the darkness of the times to harden us, but instead, use it as an invitation to soften, to feel, to protectā¦so that we can be a fierce Maternal force in a patriarchal world.
Om Dum Durgayei Namaha
I lean on the teachings Iāve received over the last decade plus of my life to help guide me in times that are heavy and difficult. They help me to understand the world around me, and the inner world in which Iām cultivating daily by my choices, actions or inactions.
The Maha Gunas of Sattva, Rajas and Tamas have so much to teach us in these times. It helps me to understand the different ways in which people show up in crisis, it helps me to understand the reasons as to why they donāt. All of us our carrying around different qualities and quantities of life force energies that contribute to our realities, and/or our perceived realities.
More than anything the qualities of life forces at play, or the gunas, are a tool of awareness. These qualities, or the awareness of themā¦not only move us, but they ultimately teach us how to go beyond them. The Gunas teach us how to utilize those forces, so that we can go beyond those forces!
The Gunas are a tool of liberation!
In school this past week, one of my teachers so eloquently saidā¦
āyou cannot transcend, that which you are unaware.ā
Once a certain level of understanding about the Gunas is achieved, you begin to ask yourself questions likeā¦
am I being forced to react and respond based on my conditioning? Or can I observe, witness and then transcend?!
This concept applies to something as erroneous as the snack you choose to eat, or something as significant and consequential as your willingness to speak out against genocide.
An analogy offered was that you cannot avoid a car accident while driving if you donāt have your eyes on the road. Meaning you CAN transcend the potential of pain and suffering simply by being aware while driving. And one can only be present and aware to the capacity of which one is managing their influences. Itās a balancing act. Are you texting while youāre driving? Are you listening to loud and rajasic music? Are you exhausted and nodding out behind the wheel? We carry with us into every situation, every circumstance and every experience a certain level of awareness, perspective.
As seekers, we try to understand whatās influencing our choices and actions so that we can confidently stand behind them. This is where the understanding of the Maha Gunas is invaluable.
