Unfortunately, change happens and with that sometimes we lose teachers and faculty and that is always a sad day for us.
This year we had a few of our faculty and staff leave, for either different positions, or for fun new adventures in life.
Thank you to these wonderful individuals and the impact you have made on those you have touched with your service here at the ALC. You will be missed, but we also wish you well on your new adventures.

Have you ever seen a sea of seventh graders? We have! The recent Nebo CTE Expo was a flurry of fun for our ALC teachers. Mr. Peery, Mrs. Hair, Mr. Harmer, Mr. Adams, Mr. Eastmond, Mr. Nielsen and Mrs. Ewell all participated to show off some of the skilled and technical courses our school has to offer.
Highlights included displays of ALC Collision painted cars, Hot Wheels giveaways all day long from Mr. Adams' automotive repair class, Robotics demonstrations from our First Robotics Team, beautiful furniture and woodworking displays from Mr. Nielsen's class, and of course the Bottle CAPS soda bus serving almost 2,000 seventh graders at the event. Even Nebo School District Superintendent Rick Nielsen attended the event and sampled our soda and visited the many booths!
A huge thank you to our Nebo CTE leadership for their countless hours of preparation and dedication to Nebo School District!

Nebo CAPS students had their first chance to sublimate on t-shirts recently. Kyle Campbell and McKay Ewell were able to work together to create baseball t-shirts for a local team called the Aviators in their Business & Media Productions CAPS class. The students were able to work out a few kinks and create a beautiful product. Way to go NeboCAPS!

Nebo Online Learning Summit (NOLS) has a much-needed, new website thanks to David Wadley, our district webmaster, and Koa Graham a Nebo CAPS student at The Advanced Learning Center (ALC). Koa, a student in the Business & Media Production CAPS class, worked closely with the NOLS team, David Wadley, and his teacher, Amy Ewell, to create a beautifully designed site for all our Nebo Online Programs.
A HUGE thank you to David Wadley for his mentorship and to the NOLS team for allowing Koa and Nebo CAPS to have such an awesome, real-world project in creating this beautiful website and resource for Nebo Online education! Also thanks to David and Koa's blackmailing tactics, Mrs. Ewell agreed to share Koa's Youtube profile, so check him out ()!

The Candy Bomber, Gail S. Halvorsen (October 10, 1920 – February 16, 2022) brought candy, comfort and hope to deprived German children as “Uncle Wiggly Wings” during the 1948-1949 Berlin Airlift. One man demonstrated that a small act of kindness can change the world. He continued throughout his life to be a light to all who met him or who were impacted by his example.
The Gail S. Halvorsen Aviation Education Foundation invites you to celebrate his life, be inspired by his life's mission and be challenged to help continue the impact of his legacy of hope. Gather together to share your stories of Colonel Halvorsen and remember his example to us all! Details about the event can be found at thecandybomber.org.
The Halversen Foundation is an awesome business partner.
Save the Date! Join us to Remember, Celebrate, Inspire and Challenge.

Did you know that a chance meeting in Nashville, TN with a small group of business teachers sparked the idea for BottleCAPS? Mrs. Ewell wanted her business students to experience operating a business in real life and a food truck fit the bill. After months of iterations, and with the approval of Nebo School District, BottleCAPS was born!
Named after our NeboCAPS program, Business & Marketing CAPS students have been working hard to create and EPIC brand for BottleCAPS. The process began by creating a Brand Brief to identify our Vision, Mission, Values, Brand Promise, Target Market, Unique Selling Proposition, Key Competitors, Competitive Advantage, Brand Voice and Brand Culture.
Our vision for BottleCAPS is to strive to inspire a real-world, entrepreneurial mindset in all NeboCAPS students and support our surrounding high school, junior high school, middle school and elementary school activities along the way. We are definitely "Driven to Serve" our community as we give back a portion of our sales to benefit Nebo schools. Whether it be a Make-A-Wish fundraiser, teacher social, or a even sporting event. BottleCAPS can contribute in a meaningful way.
Watch for us in the next few months and come see how Nebo School District supports education and educators in bringing amazing ideas to life!

Our education rising officers had the amazing opportunity to go to Foothills Elementary and deliver Fiiz drinks sponsored by Salem Fiiz and the ALC Educators Rising chapter during their parent teacher conferences. We love supporting our teachers!
Computer Science Caps Students Joshua Slaugh and Howard Crawford helped Ryan Shaffer program a robotic arm for an Engineering project in Mr. Barlow's class. The final arm was able to lift a two-liter bottle of liquid and pour it into a cup. The arm had a shoulder, elbow, and wrist and could be strapped to a person's chest.
These are our amazing Ed. Rising officers at The Advanced Learning Center. They plan and prepare for all of our awesome activities and have such a passion for Educators Rising.
"Educators Rising is a career and technical education (CTE) movement that aims to inspire high school students to serve their communities by entering the field of education. By establishing a pathway starting in high school, Educators Rising assists districts in cultivating their own next generation of highly skilled educators through a “grow your own” initiative. In addition, Educators Rising strives to diversify the educator workforce as future educators explore the necessary skills to teach equitably and add student voice to national discussions around education." - Educators Rising
Ava is the officer over membership! Ava has 3 younger siblings and loves to do cross county. She has a miniature golden doodle named Charlie and her favorite food is orange chicken. Ava wants to be a third-grade teacher.
CJ is the officer over Publicity. CJ loves hiking and rock climbing with her family. She has always wanted to be a teacher which is why she is super excited to be an officer this year through Educators Rising! A weird fact about CJ is she is terrified of bugs like spiders and small insects. A food CJ loves is her grandpa’s family soup!
Sydney Anderson is another officer for Educators Rising! Sydney is a junior at Maple Mountain High School. She plays volleyball and loves longboarding in her free time. Sydney LOVES Chick-Fil-A!
Whitney Carter is the most amazing advisor to these students and is preparing them on their journey to teaching as a profession.
All the Educator's Rising officers recently had the chance to support parent-teacher conferences at Salem Foothills Elementary. Way to go Ed. Rising! The future of education looks bright.
