I wanted to extend a huge THANK YOU to so many of my amazing clients that came and supported my family in Theatre Salina’s production of
🎄A CHRISTMAS STORY: THE MUSICAL🎄.

We wrapped up the show this weekend and it was so great to greet several of you after our performances. This (the theatre) is my self care. It fills my cup and has allowed me to create an amazing support system. I encourage each of you to find your own self care that fills you up like this. Find your happy place! and Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁🎅🏻

It's that time again! As the month of October is drawing to a close, do you need any additional essential oils to help you through the cold/flu season? Essential oils are also an excellent organic way to assist in coping with depression and anxiety! Private message me today or shoot me a text and I can order you any oils you might need! I'll be placing another order at the end of next week.

Happy Halloweenie from Obi!

Many of us can relate to this guy in the video. Anxiety and depression is something that can really take it’s toll on a person. While this video adds some humor to the situation, the truth of the content hits home with more people that you may realize.

There is a LOT going on in our world right now - from the local level to the international stage. If you feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, may I suggest you simple TALK to someone. It does not have to be me on a therapeutic level, but just talk to someone... anyone! Share the load.

Why Everyone Could Benefit from More Touch in Their Life 01/10/2022

Thank you, Salina Shares!! So sweetly, they dropped off a “thank you” care package for me a ofay in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month! It has a been a really tough year and I’m grateful for Salina Shares for remembering myself and my colleagues who have gladly helped others through such a rough season.

Did you know that May is Mental Health Awareness Month? There is hope and healing available to those who need it. Just as we regularly check our physical health, we need to stay in tune with our mental health as well!

At this time, I am not currently taking on new clients. BUT I can refer anyone who is in need of therapy to several counselors within my local network. We will get you the help you need to guide you through your current challenges or difficulties. Thank you!

A friend of mine posted this on her FB wall today and it really stuck out to me. One of the first things I focus on in therapy is learning how to accept empathy and then how to properly give it.

Holding back from inserting your own life experience when trying to comfort someone doesn’t invalidate YOUR experience...but it may rob someone else of the validation THEY NEED, to know that in that tough moment you’re there for them with no expectations or comparisons. Empathy is about connection! So as a general rule, just ask what they need and be ready to be the shoulder to cry on and just listen. ❤️❤️❤️

I love this quote by Louise Hay. I think we all need a gentle reminder that we have to practice self compassion in order to love ourselves and love others. Keep this in mind as you go about your day today.

If you’re ready to stop being critical and want to learn how to love yourself, visit our website and make an appointment! I can help you on the journey. ❤️💜💙

Today is a day we recognize as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. Early Pregnancy Loss. Stillbirth. Infant Loss. Sadly, these are deeply painful experiences that many families face daily, but they receive little attention. It may be extremely hard to talk about, but the more open we are, the better we can serve bereaved parents. If you or someone you know has suffered a devastating loss of this type, there is help. I will walk with you on your journey and guide you through the grieving process. You don’t have to grieve alone.

As students and teachers have returned to school, we realize that everyone (students, teachers, parents... everyone!) is going through a very, very stressful time. While being on task and productive is so important during school, we need to give them a break. Not just a physical break from technology (online school or otherwise) but also give them a break from trying to manage so many things at once. We are all in this together and we all deserve a break. We can do this. You can do this!

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) 07/30/2020

The state of your mental health is just as important as your physical health. If you are having some challenges coping with stress and anxiety over the last few months, call me and we can set up an appointment to talk through those challenges. For some initial coping mechanisms, check out this article from the CDC:

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a virus (more specifically, a coronavirus) identified as the cause of an outbreak of respiratory illness first detected in Wuhan, China.

As we continue to live in a world crippled by the COVID-19 situation and parents look ahead to school starting (in whatever capacity), we need to worry less about the things we cannot control. There are things you can personally control - how you react, what you post on social media, how you think positively (or negatively) about the situation, and how you communicate with others. If you need to talk through your feelings about the things that our out of your control - global pandemics or otherwise - I am here to help.

As Salina recently passed a City Ordinance for everyone to wear masks in places of business and to keep myself and my clients the safest that I can, I will be requiring you to wear a mask if you are participating in an in-person session. If this is not comfortable for you, I am still offering TeleHealth services.

Hundreds of millions of people worldwide are required to stay at home to protect themselves and prevent the spread of the disease, including young people. Children have been out of school and as a result, many of them may be spending more time on screens to complete online activities as part of homeschooling, socializing with peers, or playing video games given that outdoor activities may be restricted due to lockdowns.

Excessive screen use and gaming affect a person’s mood, and ability to focus, complete school tasks, and control outbursts. It negatively impacts their relationships with family members and peers, and takes priority over the basic functions (e.g. eating, sleeping, personal hygiene, exercise).

Adults and children alike should all be aware of the amount of screen time they are participating in. Take breaks, go on walks, meditate, read a book, draw/paint... anything to give your brain and mental state a rest.

Have a great weekend! :)

06/18/2020

During times like this, our mental health is just as important as our physical health. As we have stayed physically apart due to the coronavirus restrictions, I encourage you to continue to stay connected with your trusted circles - via zoom, texting, phone calls, written letters, socially distant walks around the neighborhood, etc. Our connection to other human beings is so very important, so as we continue to get used to a more restricted social scene, please be aware of your own mental health and meet your need to connect with others.

06/02/2020

Reminder: This week I have started seeing people in person again. If you would like to get back to a routine of coming into my office instead of doing video sessions OR if you are simply ready to begin your journey to better mental health, send me a Facebook message today.
