We’re thrilled to partner with CKF Addiction Treatment to enhance community health! A new Naloxone (Narcan) Vending Machine is now at Salina Family Healthcare Center, offering free Naloxone and hygiene kits. Conveniently located by the elevator within our clinic at 651. E Prescott Rd.

This lifesaving resource is available to everyone, helping us support harm reduction and keep our community safe. 💙

A quick temper comes from fear. Many people think a quick temper comes from confidence, but it’s actually insecurity and feelings of being out of control.

Of course, it never ok to intimate, scream at, or unleash your temper on another because you feel afraid. But it does help understand the behavior.

The more confident and secure a person is, the more they’re in their rational mind and able to seek solutions. The more afraid and in threat mode, the more in the lizard (or survival brain.)

Confidence is quiet, cooperative, and able to stay grounded

Why are kids more depressed, in the past 10 years, than ever before? (Depression rates are up 65% for girls & 47% for boys)

Kids may seem MORE connected, but they feel LESS connected than ever before - and it boils down to phones & social media.

Think about when we were in school – we didn’t know every time that there was a get-together that we weren’t invited to because we didn’t see pictures of each outing, game, or party. We didn't see it everywhere that we looked, because we didn't have social media.

When we were teenagers, we didn’t care what we looked like when we were hanging out with friends because we were the only ones that were there- I can remember sitting around with my best friends, just laughing – I didn’t wear makeup or care if I had my hair fixed just right, because the worry of a phone or camera wasn’t there.

And bullies today compared to then? When WE left school, we left the bullies behind. If teasing happened at school - it didn't follow us home. It didn’t happen so publicly. Everyone couldn’t see it or know what they were teasing other kids about since they weren’t there.
Now, it’s all public knowledge, and our kids’ peer group can join in or watch.

So what can we do about it? A lot.

Today, I was contacted by Salina's Best of the Best to let me know that I am one of the 5 qualifiers for the best counseling center in Salina. This is an extraordinary honor for me, as I take a lot of pride in my work and trying to help others. I am only a one woman show, so to be recognized with other larger centers (CKMHC, Salina Family, Veridian) is incredible. It validates my hard work, when others believe you are doing something well and worthwhile.

Voting for the Top 3 online starts July 1st-15th. If I make it to the Top 3 and you are ever so inclined to vote, that would mean a lot.
