400lbs on deadlift has taken me literally my entire 17 years of lifting weights to try and hit but I’m so close and I know I’m getting it this year. I hit 385lbs late last year but some changes in my schedule kept me from making the home stretch to 400lbs. - Been using drop sets and pyramid sets to try and get comfortable with the heavier loads while still getting a good amount of reps in my workouts. Went up to 345lbs today comfortably for a single and worked my way back down for reps at 285lbs. - I’ve not had as much time in the gym as I’d like over the past several months but I’ve been able to move some things around and get a consistent lifting schedule again and it has been as much fun as it was when I first started lifting weights in high school. Miss being a trainer. Miss my clients. Miss the long hours in a gym. I miss it all. It was the closest thing I could find to my childhood dream of being a superhero. It was a very simple job but I looked at it as a way to help people and as the best way I knew how to save people’s lives and help them live longer and stronger. I’d write the workout plans and dietary tips but as I kept doing it learned that just as importantly, I listened to them. We’d talk about what they were going through and I would sometimes give advice but a lot of times I’d just be their mental punching bag and let them workout their problems mentally while I worked out their bodies physically. One thing was for sure, everyone always left the workouts better, myself included. I believe God made me for this and I know for certain, somehow and someway… I’ll be back.
