Yes - Its CHICKEN! Barbecued chicken - The best there is! Cruise-in, music, raffles, door prizes beginning 10:00 am. We start serving 1400 dinners at 11:00, and usually sell out - don't miss it!

The answer to yesterday's question - The '53 and '54 Corvettes were offered only with a 6-cylinder engine packing a whopping 150 horsepower! What state will your Cruiser's Choice Top 30 award take you to on Saturday? Each Top 30 winner will receive one of our authentic license plates, some of which are pictured here...

The answer to yesterday's question - Of course as you can tell from the picture - Wycliff is a Golden Retriever. Golden's are consistently among the top five most popular dog breeds according to the American Kennel Club. Wycliff aspires to be a therapy dog just like his Daddy who serves with Lutheran Military Veterans & Family Ministries' Paws and Effect Program. A really tough question - but another can get you a door prize on April 27th - What is Wycliff's Daddy's name? (Answer tomorrow)

The answer to yesterday's question is of course - Statesville. That's where Port-a-Pit is headquartered. In fact on Wednesdays and Fridays beginning at 11 am you can get takeout from their home location - 119 Marshall Forest Lane.

Another favorite part of St. Paul's Cruise 'n Barbecue is Port-a-Pit chicken! Many people come just to have what is widely considered the "best you can get". Port-a-Pit cooks onsite starting the wee hours of the morning in order to be ready for the crowds waiting when serving starts at 11 am. In what nearby city is Port-a-Pit's home? As Lisa Earnhardt showed in her comment on yesterday's post - the very first St. Paul's Cruise 'n Barbecue was held in 2012, and the volunteer shirts were orange. 2012 by the way is the only year we held both a spring and fall St. Paul's Cruise 'n Barbecue. This year promises to be the best yet - we look forward to having you on April 27th!

Here's the first trivia question that may help you snag a door prize at this year's Cruise 'n Barbecue: The name of our event hails from our first, which included a "poker cruise" through the Rowan County countryside, and Glen Amos' famous barbecue. What year was that first 'St. Paul's Cruise 'n Barbecue', and what color were the volunteer's shirts? (Answer tomorrow)

Those unique, handmade trophies that George Reese is making for St. Paul's Cruise 'n Barbecue (see yesterday's post)...there are seven categories they will be awarded to: Cars 1949 & older; 50-59; 60-69; 70-79; 80-99; 2000 & up; All Trucks. The winners are determined by those of you with vehicles registered for the show. And, the Cruiser's Choice awards - have been expanded from 20 to the top 30 this year! It's going to be another great day! All registration is on-site, the day of the event. Make your plans now to attend!

With less than 4 weeks to St. Paul's Cruise 'n Barbecue we begin regular posts - some of which will help you claim a door prize on the day of the event! One of the reasons this is a favorite of those in the car hobby are our unique trophies hand-made by St. Paul's member, George Reese. Here's George with this year's trophies in process. This year's event is dedicated to the memory of Jeff Powlas, St. Paul's member, car enthusiast, friend and brother who passed away unexpectedly earlier this year. Registration this year is on-site the day of, beginning at 9:00 am. More exciting details to follow...
