I am a fiction author of many genres, including romance, mystery, sci-fi, and some spooky stories thrown in now and then.
I also love poetry, the Victorian era, and chocolate.

Currently working on a short cozy mystery for a contest and I am excited at the possibility of this turning into a series of novellas. It is a lot of fun to write this.
It takes place in 1920s Cairo, and the amateur sleuth is proving to be quite the fun character to work with. She's even got a Siamese cat named after the Egyptian goddess Bastet.
This first slide made me recall the time I randomly selected a book from the Smithfield Public Library several years ago. I'm almost positive the book had the original cover because I was surprised when I saw it had been made into a movie a few years after I read it.
I had no clue what the book was or even if it would be any good. I was pleasantly surprised even if the content is a hard topic.
The movie is also excellent. ๐ฝ๏ธ
Have you ever randomly picked a book and what was your experience? Good or snoozefest? What was the book?
๐ช๐An exciting thing happened for me! I entered a scary story contest with Friends of the Library in American Fork.
My story "The Night the Circus Came to Town" won an honorable mention! I was very surprised and encouraged to keep at this writing thing!
It's about an evil madame and her monster who travel with her magical circus in the early 20th century and visit unsuspecting towns who just want a night of escape and entertainment.
It was fun to write!

Okay, so I've been experimenting with AI because at first I was really annoyed that it's a thing, but then I was curious. I've used ChatGPT, Sudowrite and Claude. I have more experience with Claude and it is AMAZING. But what does it mean when it writes better than me? ๐๐
Granted, I have been pasting in fiction I wrote so it has the style and characters I want but holy moly, it's INSANE.
Nik teases me Claude is my new lover, and I can't disagree. haha!
