Last nights Weightlifting Seminar was a massive success !!
Massive thanks to for stopping by in his American tour and sharing over 17 years of lifting wisdom and experience with us.. not only are you extremely knowledgeable your patience and passion for what you do is what makes your workshops special.
On top of that not only did most people come away with a new PR but we all got some great tips and notes on how to individually improve our Olympic lifting techniques, keep the basics simple, working on mobility and leaving the ego at the door.
Best of all there was such a fun atmosphere of encouragement and support for everyone and that’s everything we strive to achieve here . A supportive community & environment where you can Xcel in whatever personal goals you have

Here, we are working on Bobbie's hinge, which she does beautifully.... her feet are hip-width apart, knees are soft as she hinges forward, drawing the glutes straight back towards the wall and standing up tall. Also see how she keeps the kettle bell close to her body, activating her lats= more power! .fitness
Here are a couple of my favorite unilateral exercises I like to do.
1. Med Ball Bucket Toss: This is a core exercise that implements power and rotational functionality. A great exercise for any rotation sports athlete.
2. Bottoms-up KB Carry: This exercise is great for shoulder and back Stability. Also helps Builds great forearm and hand strength.
3. KB Single-leg RDL: This is a great exercise with tons of benefits ranging from strength, balance, foot, ankle, knee and hip function.
If you’ve never worked on core rotation, balance training or single-leg strength, take some time to bring your unilateral training up to par. You can build more joint integrated and muscle activation.

The more you keep these points on target, the more powerful your row will be and the more calories you will burn!
We were excited to participate in the OC Tanner Wellness Seminar last week. Our trainers Mike Rosas and Tyler Simper were helping team members with BodyFat analysis on our InBody Scan, and showing them the amazing opportunities for business that partner with XCEL Fitness.

XCEL welcomes Emily Tanner to the Crossfit team!
Emily started CrossFit after college while living in Los Angles. As a college athlete she loved weight lifting so CrossFit felt like a perfect fit where she gets to combine her gymnastics background, a love for lifting heavy things and challenge her aerobic abilities.
Emily was a 2015 regionals athlete and is anxious to get back to the South Super Regional to represent SLC CrossFit! When she is not in the gym you can find her spending time with her husband and their dog exploring Utah.
