Salt Lake City, Utah, 84115 Gym Jones is not a cozy place. The training is difficult. There are no shortcuts.
There are no televisions, no machines, no comfortable spot to sit (just plywood and diamond-plate), and there are no mirrors. Physical and psychological breakdowns occur. Our culture, dedicated to The Art of Suffering, is both safety net and inspiration. Individuals push hard and risk more alongside trustworthy peers. To maintain this spirit we choose clients who resonate with it. Gym Jones is private, but not closed. The gym is located in Utah.

Congratulations to .dowdy on all of your hard work preparing for this weekend’s fight. It’s been a privilege to host you this week and watch you work. Best of luck 🖤
LEADERBOARD UPDATE: A few weeks ago on an unassuming Thursday, two of our Gym Jones HQ athletes finished up their workout and felt like they had more in the tank, so they turned off the lights, cranked up the music and went after the top spot(s) in their favorite Gym Jones named workout, Jonescrawl.
It’s always fun to see a record fall, but Russ and Nate going 1+2 on the same run made us feel like the rest of us haven’t been trying hard enough. Hey .r.mcconnell , you up for a rematch?
The workout:
10x deadlifts @ 115% bodyweight + 25x box jumps (20/24") x 3 rounds for time
Russ Oliver, Jr: 2:48
Nate Goodwin: 3:03

It’s hard to believe we’ve been coaching athletes on TrainHeroic for two whole years! In reflecting on what we’ve learned–from the transition, from the process of remote coaching, and from all of you–our biggest takeaway is that consistency reigns supreme. We’ve seen some incredible achievements from the people who do nothing more extraordinary than showing up and doing the work, day in and day out.
Swipe to read about a reflection on the last two years from one of our athletes who has been training with us on the app since day one. His story is impressive, but not rare amongst our most consistent athletes.
✨In celebration of our two year anniversary, and in hopes of seeing even more extraordinary success stories, we’re giving you two years for the price of one (!) If you sign up today (8/4) or tomorrow (8/5), we’ll give you HALF off an annual subscription, this year AND next year. If you want to take advantage of this, comment below the team you want to join and we’ll DM you a code.✨
Today is the last day to sign up for next weekend’s Fundamentals Seminar! If you sign up today, you’ll get a whole year on any of our online teams for FREE. Sign up at the link in our bio!

Happy Memorial Day. Join us for “Murph” today at 11:00 at Gym Jones HQ, or wherever you are.
This Memorial Day we will be hosting a special “Murph” in honor of coach Pieter Vodden’s athlete Mark Crampton. Mark served 27 years on active duty in the Naval Special Warfare community. He held multiple leadership positions and completed 10 deployments to Southeast and Southwest Asia, one deployment to Afghanistan and two deployments to Iraq.
Pieter and the community at / completed their Murph workout today. We will host ours tomorrow at 11am MT at Gym Jones HQ. Please join us–all are welcome.
Pieter is raising money in Mark’s name for Heroes and Horses, a non-profit organization we partner with closely. H&H’s mission is to offer combat veterans an alternative solution for defining and approaching their physical and mental scars. If you feel so inclined, please donate at heroesandhorses.org in memory of Mark Crampton, or through this link.

This message is from an athlete who completed our BEST OF Gym Jones Cult Classic program. Even though our standalone programs are not coached daily the way our online teams are, you can still get guidance from your coach if you need it. We’ll always be here to support engaged athletes looking to better themselves.

Today Blake Maloblocki dethroned Certified Instructor Kevin Baird as the record-holder for our named workout “Those Burpees Suck,” and Kevin couldn’t be more thrilled about it. After beating Kevin’s time by 12 whole seconds, Blake paced the gym catching his breath and attempting to get the lactic acid out of his arms while Kevin said repeatedly, “I’m SO glad I was here for that.” These are the moments that make our seminars special. Intermediate Day 1 is in the books; we can’t wait to see what tomorrow holds!
We’ve got an Intermediate Seminar coming up this weekend, so we thought we’d revisit some advice from past attendees on preparing for a Gym Jones seminar.

We asked some of our Certified Instructors to reflect on their most memorable FYF experiences. Steve Kowalenko wrote this about his FYF experience at his advanced seminar in 2015:
“First up came a 15000m SkiErg relay. Four teams, a room full of over 30 people, all working their absolute hardest. The atmosphere was electric. Winning wasn’t important, it was the togetherness, the camaraderie, and constant support from everyone pushing each other on to achieve their best that made FYF magical.
With everybody in no rush to leave that evening, there was one final optional event to finish things off – last man standing on the AirFit Bikes. 14 of us felt compelled to throw ourselves back onto the fire one (or up to five…) last time. The way this works: everybody does an all out minute. The fastest handful are done to reduce this to eight. They go again, fastest four are done, slowest go again, and so on, until the last man standing does one final all out minute with the support of the group around.
That was two minutes of my life I’ll remember for some time. If you’ve never done an all out minute, let me tell you, its about 50 seconds too long! Try repeating that. You can dig a very large hole in a minute if you truly go for it. This may have been optional, but there was really only one decision to make. All in or not at all.
“Its always darkest just before it goes pitch black. Translation: S**t can always get worse.”
I hit 66.3, and 62.1 on the two rounds I had to endure. An experience that will stay with me for a lifetime."
Join us for FYF next week at 6pm, or join our online team to get the workout remotely (link in bio!)
When we first launched TrainHeroic, we promised you'd have access to our coaches, their most current thinking, and their most up-to-date programming. In order to make good on that promise, we knew we'd need to do some occasional housekeeping!
Our online teams get fresh programming every week, but our standalone programs do not. We're currently working on v2 of the Foundation Programs we released in 2020, but you have one last chance to get your hands on them!
Today through April 30th, get any of our Foundation Programs at 50% off. You'll get access to the program through TrainHeroic for one year, PLUS a PDF copy of the program. These programs won't be available to purchase after April 30, so make sure you grab the ones you like!

To be brutally honest: when we launched our online teams, we had no idea how much we would end up loving online coaching. Don’t get us wrong; we were excited to engage with more of you and knew the next step for Gym Jones was online. We did it with purpose, but we did not fully understand the potential.
We didn’t expect the richness of the relationships we’d develop with our online athletes. We didn’t realize we’d see actual leaders emerge on the teams. We didn’t anticipate the honesty and vulnerability our athletes would share with us and with each other.
We’ll be sharing (with permission!) some messages we get from our online athletes, so that you can get a glimpse of what it means to be a Gym Jones online athlete. We’d love for you to join us. (➡️)

“As a coach, I hear a lot about people’s goals. I discuss goals with new athletes when they come to the gym, but something about my being a coach prompts everyone, inside the gym and out, to tell me about their aspirations.
Relatives, friends, the cashier at Trader Joe’s—they’re all eager to share what they want to accomplish. From all directions, one specific physical performance goal stands out. I hear it more than anything else: “I really wish I could do a pull up.”
Read more about why your first pull up is especially challenging for most people, what you’re doing wrong in trying to get one, and 5 accessories to add to your program. Link to the article (and our pull up program!) in our bio.
