As a reminder the Marathon Race for the Olympic Trials is on Saturday, February 13th at 10am. Please do not confuse this race with the LA Marathon to be held on Sunday, February 14th.
Below is the link to the race course for Saturday's event. We hope to have custom T-Shirts available to distribute to those people who want to come out to LA and support Nick. I guarantee the event will be one you will never forget.

The Men's Olympic Marathon Trials are just less than 3 weeks and will be held in Downtown Los Angeles. The course is a 4 loop course that starts near the LA Staples Center and heads down to the LA Coliseum. So it is very spectator friendly course. The race will be held on Saturday Morning - Feburary 13th at 10am. So if you are in the neighborhood, come down to LA and root for my favorite runner; Nick. I guarantee, the event will be electric. If you never been to the trials, it is a blast. But, if you cant make it, get your DVD recorder ready and watch on NBC. Will you be Ready? I Will. Go Nick!!!!

Nothing much going on here except, Nick announced that he will be running the New York Marathon on Sunday, November 1, 2015. Also, Nick is in process of building his own web page that will have substantially more information than facebook. Look for a link to that page very soon. FYI only 5 more months until the US Mens Olympic Marathon trials. Hoping to get a big support group to root my favorite son. Nick has been working with Under Armour to provide custom T-Shirts for that occassion and perhaps other goodies. Will You be Ready? I Will.
This is part of the genetic make up of my son, Nicholas Arciniaga in becoming one of the best in his trade. His grandfather a humble man, with a gracious and positive attitude toward life, who has lived very simply and shied away from the limelight. Yet beneath that simple man's exterior was a fiery inferno that was determined to be the best that he could be. Just like Nick. Read on.
Had a nice week in Washington DC, but this experience was topped by this: I am sure you all have heard of the book and the HBO series - "Band of Brothers"; I just learned from reading the magazine that my Dad receives - The American Legion Magazine - that the photo attached appeared on the cover the first publishing of the book. What is the big deal. My Dad, Chavelo, is in the picture - back row - middle - This picture was taken on July 7, 1944 in Ste Marie Du Mont - Normandy Region - 1 day before is 19th birthday. In addition, my Dad graciously allowed himself to be interviewed and share some his experiences in World War II. The whole interview was video recorded by Lyon's Museum in Santa Ana, adjacent to OC Airport and will be sent the Library of Congress in Washington DC. I will need to go back again. My Dad what an amazing life he has lived - He is truly blessed.

Results are in from the Boston Marathon and Nick came in a time of 2:18.02 - good for 14th place overall. As his father, I can say that I have been spoiled by his successes and today, I would initiallly say this was a disappointing race. However, I have had a full workday to reflect and focus on the positive. He made a courageous bid to run with Ethiopians and Kenyans at a 204/205 pace for 6 plus miles. He was running a sub 210 PR pace for the 1/2 marathon. Who can fault him for sticking his nose in the fight and hoping to come out with a glorious outcome. I would have love to seen that. He could have run safe and run close to his PR and finished in the top 10, but, he has done that. This was an opportunity to measure himself against the worlds best on their terms. To that, I salute you Nick Arciniaga, you made be proud once again to be you Dad. Here is to better race with a better outcome when it really counts. Olympic Trials are less than 10 months away. Are you ready, I will be.
Just a reminder that Nick will be in Boston to compete in the 119th running of the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 20th. Race time for those on West Coast is at 7am. So if you want to be late for work like me, you will have a couple a ways to follow the action.

At 10K Nick comes through at 31:47 about 1 second ahead of pack of 7.
At 15K Nick comes through in 47:43 tied with 5 others. At this point don't know what happens next, so I am kinda excited.
At 20K Nick comes through at 103.01 and still tied with 5 others.
At 25 K Nick has dropped off the pace to 4th place trailing by 12 seconds - in 118:44 - He is still running consistent 5ks, so the 3 top guys made a move. Lets see, I have the final result.
No results as of this posting
On Sunday, February 15, 2015, Nick will be returning to the Land of the Rising Sun and competing against some of Japan's finest distance runners in the 49th running of the Ohme 30K in Ohme Japan. The last time Nick competed in the Ohme 30K, he finished in 5th place. This time around Nicholas Ashinija (Japanese transaltion) will be wearing bib #1 and fighting for the win. Wish him well, and I will post results here as soon as available.
