Congrats to everyone that was promoted today!
We had 6 blue belts. 3 purple belts , one brown belt and one black belt get prompted. There were probably 40 people watching the test and around 8 black belts on the mat.
Congrats to Bruno Lopes for making that jump to black belt and being real!!
The energy in that room was utopia. It was the very definition of that word. If you missed it, then you missed something special.
Thank you all for coming and for those who didn’t come , I wanna really thank you. 👀
Thank@you for the Alkaline water and guess what? They have real Açaí! It’s made in Brasil. It have everything that real Açaí should have in it. Yes, milk powder is something you would add to Açaí in Brasil. 👌👌👌
Big thanks to for the introduction. ⚔️
Day class was looking sharp today!
Some days I can just see it. The techniques and movements everyone is doing look perfect. I’ts like a watching a firework show. Amazing things popping off all over the room.
Thank you for flying across the US to share your knowledge.
Hands down the best seminar I’ve attended. Crucifix cradles to knee bars to reverse half exiting back to a power knee bar. Thanks for getting weird with us!!
Congrats to .c24 for receiving her blue belt on the day she turned 16.
She has been training in the adults classes for a few years now and more than hold we own. It’s been inspiring to watch a young adult balance school and training. 👏👏

Thanks to David from Arizona for stopping in today.
He’s a 67 year old black belt who started training at age 50. What’s even more inspiring is that he competed at the Master Worlds last year. I asked him if he had any advice for anyone training. He said you have to train smart and be a good training partner. I couldn’t agree more!
Today, I had the pleasure of promoting Alex Martinez to black belt. I’ve known him since 2008.
When he decided to open his own school in Idaho he asked me, how I run my gym. I explained to him the reasons why I run my gym the way I do. He took my ideas and his own ideas and created a jiujitsu school in Blackfoot Idaho. 2 years later he has something and from what I saw today and at the many competitions I’ve seen the results of his work.
It made me think of when I gave out my first blue belts and all the ups and downs. Honestly, if I knew then what I know now, I would have never opened my school. Good luck Alex you’re gonna need it! 🖤🖤🖤

Congrats to for taking silver last weekend at the NoGi World Championships. Her training leading up to the tournament was focused and also relaxed. She had a plan and she worked step by step to make it happen. 👏👏
I promoted 26 people last night. 15 blue belts, 6 purple belts and 5 brown belts. This gym starred with 400 square feet of mat space and expanding slowing over the past 8 years.
It only happened because of the people that showed up and things they did to build this schools. My gratitude will always be for them and their actions.
All I did, is what I’ve been doing for the past 24 years. Show up train hard and talk about Jiu-jitsu. We are not just a Jiu-jitsu school, we are a place that exist with the spirit of art, hard work and dedication. Roll through if you don’t believe me.
3 Utah Pedro Sauer Black belts that consistently train together are traveling to Switzerland to represent his Jiu-Jitsu next week. If you are not willing to rep your black belt and his Jiu-Jitsu. Step aside and let the workers do what has to be done.
Happy Halloween from the lunch shift!!
Normal Class schedule all day.

Combat Arts is happy to support .bekind a non profit that is focused on getting kids into Jiu-Jitsu or other Martial Arts by providing free scholarships.
As Instructors, students and parents of students we should all be grateful we have martial Arts in our lives. The belts, the medals and the difficulty of the sport means nothing. It’s the genuine friendships and the journey of doing something difficult that builds a strong person.
“ I fear no man, no beast or evil, brother.” - Hulk Hogan
Our next belt test will be Wednesday November 15th from 6PM to 8PM. The promotion will include a blue , purple and brown belt test.
Our women’s PGI team put on a show today!
They preformed with sharp technic and hunted submissions relentlessly. As a team we had 7 different submissions. It’s just the beginning for them as white and blue belts.
Winning or losing is not my main priority. We lost in the finals but win or lose, we go back to the gym and work on our mistakes. Competition is just a way to test yourself and get better.
Thanks to ._sims and for giving them a chance to put everyone on notice.
Luis Pinherio The current IBJJF Gi and NoGi adult world champion and Gi and NoGi Grand slam champion (there are only 14 grand slam champion’s that exist) came through tonight. Did an open mat, trained with everyone, taught a class and then ran the Compettion class. All during his layover at the airport. 🙏 For those of you that were there tonight , did that really happen…😂😂
thanks so much for spending most of your 4 hour layover with us!!
Congrats to the team this weekend for their performance at Grappling Industries.
Last weekend we did the IBJJF NoGi Pan American Championship
In Texas, next weekend we have an all women’s team doing which uses the Quintet rule set.
This was my vision for Combat Arts almost 8 years ago. The rule set doesn’t matter, Gi , NoGi , Self defense situations. The goal is always the same, make someone tap. Thanks to many people and students, we are doing exactly what I envisioned. 🙏
Congrats to for placing third at the Nogi Pan American Championship in Texas.
A few weeks we took a team of 14 to the master worlds. We had about 20 other students, family members and friends come to support everyone.
Some won, some lost but at the end of the day, we all walked away knowing we prepared properly and supported each other to the fullest extent. That’s all that really matters.
The next team trip, we will be doing, is the NoGi world championships in December which will take place in Las Vegas.
Come along and join the fun!!
Failure is something that you will always experience. Memory’s are priceless and are only created through actions.
Congrats to for receiving her blue belt last night. She worked very hard to get this point. Ashley impressed me the most with her attitude and consistency. This is a difficult sport and it doesn’t get easier but having the right attitude and being consistent will get to you far!
Congrats to for taking gold and collecting several armlocks along the way!
Tonight was our last night with Greta and Denton.
They are moving to a different state to start an exciting new chapter of their lives.
Over the past 4 years these 2 have made a huge impact on everyone they have met on and off the mats. Denton has been one of the most consistent and cerebral students I’ve ever coached. I was honored to tie a purple belt around his waist before he departed. Greta was fierce and consistent and always very friendly to new students. I’m very grateful for her attitude and of course her unmatched party throwing skills.
I tried to do something unforgettable for them before they left and I’m pretty sure they will never forget it. Haha
Hope to see you two soon 🖤🖤🖤
Our day classes like to party early so they can get a good nights rest. 😂
The team killed it today!
We placed 1st in the best overall academy. Also, our submission rate was the best it’s every been.
I also wanna thank the upper belts for the help they put in to make this all happen. Being a good training partner is the MOST important part of Jiujitu.
