Each year The Museum of the Middle Appalachians celebrates Woolly Day. Come out for a pancake breakfast fundraiser, then hear the beloved mammoth mascot predict the weather. Get more info at: Woolly’s Weather Prognostication .
It’s that time of the year again! Join us Saturday, January 27th for our annual Woolly Mammoth Day breakfast and Woolly’s weather prognostication. Tickets will be available at the Museum of the Middle Appalachians and at the door the morning of the 27th. As always, the breakfast will be held in the Northwood High School cafeteria and Woolly will make her weather prediction at the museum. Hope to see you there!!

The Saltville Christmas parade has been postponed due to weather. Please join us Saturday, December 9th.
If you needed an excuse to visit a museum this holiday season, two of our local museums feature Community Christmas Tree Displays to celebrate! The Smyth County Museum holds its annual Christmas At The Museum event where visitors can vote on their favorite tree from those on display. Similarly, the The Museum of the Middle Appalachians holds their annual Winter Wonderland event with trees and other decorations all displayed by members of the local community. What are you waiting for! Stop by for some holiday fun and learn something about our local history! Please see each organization for up to date hours of operation.

Saltville museum prepares for Winter Wonderland of Christmas Trees, welcomes tree sponsors The Museum of the Middle Appalachians in Saltville will host its 17th annual Winter Wonderland of Christmas Trees from Nov. 20 through Jan. 7, 2024.
With the holiday season rapidly approaching The Museum of the Middle Appalachians is once again preparing our Winter Wonderland of Christmas Trees display. Last year’s display featured a record number of trees and we hope to exceed that amount this year! If you are interested in displaying a tree, wreath, or other holiday decoration please contact the Museum at (276)496-3633 or [email protected]. This year’s display will open on November 21, 2023 and will run through January 7, 2024.
