An educational foundation that builds upon the Texas-Japan relationships forged by the late Mrs.
Naoko Shirane and provides travel scholarships to Japan for aspiring Bexar County 11th grade students and empowering them to become future global leaders.
The Shirane Scholars volunteered at JASSA’s Aki Matsuri, immersing themselves in Japanese culture by enjoying traditional Japanese food and participating in Bon Odori, the traditional Japanese dance.

2024 Hiroshima Visit Recap with the Consul General of Japan in Houston: During this meaningful meeting, the students shared their reflections and insights gained from their time in Hiroshima. Next year will mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. This visit serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of peace and remembrance.
