Of all possible success attributes, which one is the most powerful?

Self-control is the master aptitude, for with this one strength alone you multiply all others.

In the last days mankind will be “without self-control.” (2 Timothy 3:1-3) There is pressure from a thousand sources: media manipulation, out-of-control government spending, raunchier entertainment, and social media influence. We are already half numb to the perpetual coarsening of culture.

The antidote is to be filled with the Spirit. The nine fruits of the Spirit start with love, then joy and peace. These are all altered states of being, but they lead to patience and meekness, which look more like choices we must make that lead to self-control, probably because self-control is the foundation that supports every other virtue.

Self-control may be the greatest distinguishing mark between those who walk in the Spirit and those who are controlled by their own appetites. Without this we are likened to a city without walls: “Whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down without walls.” (Proverbs 25:28) Imagine invisible walls protecting you, made out of the substance of self-control. This is the power that forms boundaries in your life and keeps in what you cherish and keeps out what is evil. Proverbs 16:32 describes it this way: “He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.”

By nature some people are very disciplined and others are not. In fact, some people, like myself, are entrepreneurs by nature. They are hard-driving, stimulus-oriented people, but their work is driven by passion more so than discipline. When the work gets boring, they move on to something else that engages them. These individuals often test low in self-control as an attribute. My friend Rick Joyner reminded me that self-control comes as a gift, however, and all can grab it.

2 Timothy 1:7 says “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” You and I have a spirit within us that operates in power, love and self-discipline…the essence of self-control.

So if you lack this aptitude—ASK for it! God gives to all men freely.

With self-control in place, you can be 100% who you are called to be and do 100% of what you are called to do…and leave nothing undone in all God has for you.

Why did God create evil? The answer struck me to the core of my soul!
A professor at the university asked his students the following question:
- Everything that exists was created by God?
One student bravely answered:
- Yes, created by God.
- Did God create everything? - a professor asked.
“Yes, sir,” replied the student.
The professor asked :
- If God created everything, then God created evil, since it exists. And according to the principle that our deeds define ourselves, then God is evil.
The student became silent after hearing such an answer. The professor was very pleased with himself. He boasted to students for proving once again that faith in God is a myth.
Another student raised his hand and said:
- Can I ask you a question, professor?
"Of course," replied the professor.
A student got up and asked:
- Professor, is cold a thing?
- What kind of question? Of course it exists. Have you ever been cold?
Students laughed at the young man's question. The young man answered:
- Actually, sir, cold doesn't exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is actually the absence of heat. A person or object can be studied on whether it has or transmits energy.
Absolute zero (-460 degrees Fahrenheit) is a complete absence of heat. All matter becomes inert and unable to react at this temperature. Cold does not exist. We created this word to describe what we feel in the absence of heat.
A student continued:
- Professor, does darkness exist?
— Of course it exists.
- You're wrong again, sir. Darkness also does not exist. Darkness is actually the absence of light. We can study the light but not the darkness. We can use Newton's prism to spread white light across multiple colors and explore the different wavelengths of each color. You can't measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into the world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you tell how dark a certain space is? You measure how much light is presented. Isn't it so? Darkness is a term man uses to describe what happens in the absence of light.
In the end, the young man asked the professor:
- Sir, does evil exist?
This time it was uncertain, the professor answered:
- Of course, as I said before. We see him every day. Cruelty, numerous crimes and violence throughout the world. These examples are nothing but a manifestation of evil.
To this, the student answered:
- Evil does not exist, sir, or at least it does not exist for itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is like darkness and cold—a man-made word to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is not faith or love, which exist as light and warmth. Evil is the result of the absence of Divine love in the human heart. It’s the kind of cold that comes when there is no heat, or the kind of darkness that comes when there’s no light.

Exercise Doesn’t Have To Be Extreme. Try This

“A rattlesnake bit one of my sheep in the face about a week ago. Deadliest snake that lives around here. The sheep’s face swelled up and hurt her terribly.

But the old rattlesnake didn't know the kind of blood that flows through the sheep. Anti-venom is most often made from sheep's blood. The sheep swelled for about 2 days but the blood of the lamb destroyed the venom of the serpent.

I was worried but the sheep didn't care. She kept on eating, kept on drinking and kept on climbing because she knew she was alright.

Often the serpents of this life will reach out and bite us. They inject their poison into us but they cannot overcome the Blood of the Lamb of God that washes away the sin of the world and the sting of death. Don't worry about the serpent or his bite, just make sure that the Lamb's Blood is flowing through your veins.”
