Good morning, today is quite a landmark day for the BBVFD:
• Last Day for the BBVFD: As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end and today, after 58 years, is the last day for the Bexar-Bulverde Volunteer Fire Department as we move into a new model for operations tomorrow. What began in 1966 with a few dedicated residents recognizing the need for fire and rescue services has grown today into an ISO Class 1 professional fire department with nearly 80 full-time employees. A single 2-bay building has become 4 stations and an administration building, and that original 2-bay station will soon give way to a modern two-story facility on a new site. The first engine was purchased in 1981 and was a salvaged pumper from the US Air Force that had been severely damaged by a fire and has been long ago replaced by the best fire apparatus on the market. Those first volunteers could never have imagined the department operating 2 Ladder trucks, soon to be 4 Engines, a Heavy Rescue, Tenders, 4 brush trucks, and all the other vehicles currently in operation, not to mention protecting 65,000 residents, almost $15 billion in property values, 3 school districts with 10 schools, and a world-class resort.
To keep the spirit of the original founders alive, the new department under Bexar County ESD No.3 as you know will retain most of the original name and be operated as the Bexar-Bulverde Fire Department. The ESD has pledged to continue its full support to maintain superior fire and rescue services to the residents of the District, secure sufficient revenue to ensure ex*****on of the established Mission, expand emergency services as necessary to accommodate the growing needs of the residents, provide the best in Apparatus, Equipment and Fire Stations to the professional firefighters, provide a competitive pay structure and excellent benefits to the employees, and continue to deepen the relationship with the residents through education and community involvement. Adding patient transport capabilities is the next logical step in the evolution of the department’s desire to provide the full spectrum of fire and rescue services to the district.
There is no way to list here the names of the dedicated people who have contributed to the success of the BBVFD and made it what it is today, not mention the support they received from their spouses and families as they selflessly served to protect others from harm. This department has deep roots in the community and will continue to grow and thrive and provide best-in-class services to the district.
Thanks to all of you for being a part of that history and success, and for being a part of its future.

# # Staying Connected During the Outage: Important Information for AT&T Users
We understand the network outage is causing disruptions, In the meantime, here's how you can stay connected for emergencies:
**Emergency Calls:**
* **Even during an outage, you can still make emergency calls to 911 from your AT&T mobile phone.** These calls will be routed over a different network, ensuring you can reach help when needed.
**Staying Connected:**
* **WiFi Calling:** If you have a compatible phone and Wi-Fi access, you can enable WiFi Calling to make and receive calls over a Wi-Fi network. This can be a helpful alternative during an outage.
* **Text Messaging:** Text messages may still be functional depending on the severity of the outage. Use texting to communicate with loved ones and stay informed.
**Stay Updated:**
* Visit the AT&T Outage Information Center for real-time updates and estimated restoration times.
* Follow on social media for updates
** **
**Additional Tips:**
* Consider downloading offline maps or using GPS navigation apps that work without an internet connection.
* Charge your phone and other devices to ensure they have enough battery life during the outage.
* If you have a power bank, keep it charged and readily available to power your devices.
Please, always know your address or location for an emergency.
By following these tips and staying informed, you can stay connected and prepared during the network outage.

Public Service Announcement
As many of you may have seen already. There is a lot of smoke coming from Camp Bullis. This is due to the Bureau of Land Management conducting prescribed burns on the base. We have been in contact with their command staff and have been ensured that it is under control. We always ask to be notified prior to the burns taking but unfortunately that did not happen today. We were notified once they had already started. These burns will be taking place today, tomorrow and Tues-Sunday of next week. If we are notified that the situation changes and notifications need to be made, we will update our page.
