Lost Pet Prevention Month tip:
Preventing a lost pet begins with responsible pet ownership. This includes maintaining a secure and pet-friendly environment at home, such as a well-fenced yard and securely latched gates. Additionally, it's vital to keep pets on leashes or in appropriate enclosures when outdoors.
Take some time today to inspect any outdoor areas where your pet spends unsupervised time for any weak boards or holes just big enough for a curious pet to squeeze through!
Every year on July 30th, we celebrate International Friendship Day but we think of it more as International "Furrendship" Day!
There are so many different ways to celebrate today with your pets, from giving them a special treat, an extra long walk, or surprising them with a new toy!
One of the best ways to show your furry friend you care is to ensure they are up to date with their veterinary care. If you have any questions about your pet's status or on how to best care for your companion, let us know! Your VCA Henderson Pass team is here to help you keep your pets healthy and happy!

With heat waves sweeping across the country, blue-green algae is appearing in new areas and posing an increased risk to pets.
Found in lakes, ponds or any source of standing water, it’s extremely toxic and consuming it can be fatal. The best way to prevent accidental poisoning is to keep a close eye on pets when they’re around water.
If you think your pet has been exposed, take them to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital and contact the ASPCA Poison Control at 888-426-4435.

Today, Feline Leukemia Awareness Day, we wanted to dive into the the former.
FeLV is an important cause of anemia in cats and can cause several types of cancers. There is no known cure but it can be prevented with a vaccine.
To learn more about Feline Leukemia and the vaccination, check out the article below:
