Navigate the treacherous waters of being a heavenly citizen in an earthly world. Through Paul's daring exploits in Philippi and Jerusalem, we'll talk about what it means to live boldly for Christ in today's complex society! We’ll also consider the balance between heavenly and earthly citizenship.
Tomorrow is LWM Sunday! Lutheran Women in Mission is a group of women that joyfully proclaims Christ, supports missions, and equips women to honor God by serving others. Concordia’s chapter is open to all women and meets the second Monday of the month. Stop by the lobby after worship this weekend to find out more about this amazing ministry and how you can become involved!
Trike-a-Thon for St. Jude ❤️🚲
This morning our toddler and Pre-K classes in the Child Care Center participated in the St. Jude Trike-a-Thon to raise money to support kids just like them fighting cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The St. Jude Trike-A-Thon is a fun and educational way to teach children how to make a difference for St. Jude kids, encourage them to grow in their empathy skills, while also teaching them trike and riding toy safety. Great job today, little ones!
Today was Service Learning Day at CLS! Students packaged boxes of food drive donations for Children's Hunger Fund that will be provided to children in need right here in San Antonio and beyond. They also spent time learning about Salvation Army and all the work they do to to provide resources and shelter to men, women, and children in our community, like serving food from their mobile canteen! Our students are learning from a young age the importance of loving others through service. Thank you, God, for their servant hearts!
There is so much loss, devastation, and heartbreak for many people right now in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Our hearts are with all affected, and we are covering the people and places in the path of this week's storm in prayer.
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." - Psalm 34:18
The Fall 2024 Confirmation Retreat was a success! This weekend our Confirmation class went to Camp Lone Star for a weekend of growing in faith, playing games, team-building, and making new friends. This awesome group of middle schoolers is eager to learn and grow in Christ together. What a great kick-off to this year of Confirmation!
Prepare for a paradigm shift! Join Peter on a mind-bending journey as God shatters cultural barriers and unveils His love for all people. Discover the beautiful tapestry of unity in diversity that God is weaving in His Church! This sermon explores Peter's vision and his encounter with Cornelius, addressing the breaking down of cultural and racial barriers in the early Church. It emphasizes God's impartiality and the unity of all believers in Christ.

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people” - 1 Timothy 2:1
Each year on the fourth Wednesday of September is See You At The Pole, a global day of student prayer. This morning our entire student body gathered together around the flag pole to lift up prayers for our school, community, nation, and world. Student Council did a great job leading this time of prayer and setting an example for our younger students. We are grateful for a God who hears us and loves us so deeply!
How is everyone enjoying the first official week of fall? 🍂

Courage under fire! Marvel at the apostles' audacity as they stand firm in the face of fierce opposition. From miraculous healing to a high-stakes showdown with the religious leaders, you'll be inspired by the early believers' unshakeable faith and their secret weapon: the power of prayer! We’ll focus on the apostles' courage in proclaiming the Gospel and the early Church’s reliance on prayer and the Holy Spirit.
Remembering those lost on this day 23 years ago. We will never forget. ❤️
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” - Psalm 34:18
It’s a beautiful day for reading! 📚 Our 8th grade students and their “Kinder Buddies” spent time reading some Dr. Seuss classics today in the courtyard. These kindergarten students look up to the 8th graders so much, and it’s awesome to see the way the older kids lead and love on their buddies!
Grandparents are the BEST! These sweet kids had so much fun today at their Child Care Grandparents Day Celebration. Each class sang and performed a different nursery rhyme that they have been practicing all week for this special program. Thank you to all the grandparents out there who love on these children and guide them in their faith. You are very loved!
Hard work deserves recognition and a day to celebrate! Happy Labor Day!
A very special guest and friend of Concordia, archaeologist Dr. Achia Kohn-Tavor, and his family are here from Israel to show us ancient artifacts from the time of Jesus and teach us about their rich history. This week, Dr. Achia presented to our Concordia Lutheran School students who were incredibly impressed and inquisitive about these fascinating findings. After these students went through the line to touch and feel these artifacts, you could overhear several kids saying, "These were from the time when Jesus was alive! I'm never washing this hand again!" 😄
We are excited that Dr. Achia will be at Concordia again TOMORROW, Sunday morning, Sept. 1 to present to Adult Bible Class at 9:30am in the Family Life Center. All are welcome to come and see these amazing findings and learn more about Dr. Achia's work in Israel.
Next week our Fall Women's Bible Studies are starting up! If you are a woman looking for a Christ-centered community where you can study God's Word and build new friendships, then we'd love for you to join us. Registration is open at Concordia.cc/events. There you'll find more information about each study as well as the full schedules of meeting dates. Our Thursday evening study begins next week on Thursday, Sept. 5 and our Wednesday morning study will start the following week on Wednesday, Sept. 11. We hope you'll consider joining us!
