Film is beautiful.

These are the first and only photographs that I've ever shot on medium format film in a career that spans 15 years.

These images are rare and special, just as the camera is that created them.

The entire process is at first daunting yet magical and the results are undeniably worth waiting for, albeit incredibly slow.. but then such a distinct parallel can be drawn to that of life can't it?

I'll admit there is something beautiful about the process of shooting with a film camera. An inherent and perceptible value of time is present as you're loading the film back; there's an understanding that each exposure is precious.

I've had countless people ask why I don't shoot film? And for me it's that I find film so genuine in a way that I wish not to disrespect it as a wedding photographer like so many do today.

This craft has become so grossly glamorized and misleading that people will become "fine art" photographers overnight at the thought of potential "likes" on a social media platform
or to quickly add some zeros to their pricing or to sell phony workshops and exploit the naive. Ironically enough, if you saw their digital work you'd question if it was even the from the same photographer. That's because while film is gorgeous it is also incredibly forgiving. Too many wedding photographers today have found this to
be an easy means to mask their lack of ability with a camera.

I personally never wanted to unintentionally add to that surplus by doing something my heart was not behind.

Of course this does not apply to all "film" photographers so please do not misconstrue my words. Some of my closest friends and colleagues in this industry happen to be film or hybrid photographers. I would vouch for these people any day of the week. You know who you are! They've found their
voice within the medium and are truly capable artists no matter the paintbrush.

As I look back at these images, I'm stricken with the notion that perhaps my heart has been behind "film" all this time. Explaining my strong opinions surrounding film and my desire
to be respectful of those artists who truly exhibit a passion for shooting with it.
