So last week we climbed Umling La, on Royal Enfield Himalayan, the highest motorable road in the world. While there I took a drone selfie with the group. This might be the highest or second highest selfie taken with a drone ever!

Umling La, being the world's highest motorable pass at 19,024 feet, presents a unique challenge and opportunity for drone photography. While drones have been used in the area before, primarily for surveying and research purposes, taking a selfie at that altitude is certainly less common.

It's unlikely that many people have had the chance to capture a selfie with a drone at that specific location and altitude. So, congratulations! You may very well have achieved a unique feat in drone photography.

What better way to observe this four-decade long relationship than to join a MotoDiscovery tour of Mexico with BMW Owners News contributors Dustin and Janel Silvey? 

Getting very excited about my Recon Tour to Ladakh. I've seen and heard of this place, where the land meets the heavens, and have always wanted to experience it for myself. Taking a Royal Enfield Himalayan across the highest motorable pass in the world, Umling La, will be a true test of riding and tackling extreme elevations. At 19,024 feet (5,799 m), Umling La will be the highest elevation I've ever ridden a motorcycle.

Gear is always a struggle—what to pack and what to leave behind.
For sure, my camera Sony A7c and gear will get first priority for space: video gear, DJI Pocket 3, Insta360, GoPro, and the Dji Air 3 drone.

Probably the KLIM Kodiak riding suit, Gore-Tex pants and jacket, Canada Goose down jacket, Mountain Hardwear down pants, KLIM Krios carbon fiber helmet with a Sena communicator, and Formaboots tall Adventure boots. Mosko Moto lighter jacket and backpack. Various kinds of gloves and a couple of thermal tops, and with that, I think I'm well set.
