Everyone always talks about the love you will feel for your baby, but what I remember more is the love I felt for you. In those moments of unknowns and newness, you were my rock. Watching you become the incredible father that you were always meant to be, my heart swelled. My love for you only grew deeper each moment, watching you care for your son, and for me.

It feels so good to be back in the shop! I’ve missed it, while still loving my time away. I’m doing my best to find my new routine, with a new little person in tow, but I’m so happy to see your smiling faces again.

It’s my first Mother’s Day.

The first in a lifetime, for a lifetime. It’s a strange feeling, because in a lot of ways, I don’t yet feel like a mom.

Last summer we were told we had a 1% chance of conceiving on our own. For me, I didn’t feel devastation but peace in simply knowing - this was probably not the route our lives were going to take. Not even twelve hours later I had a positive test. It was a whirlwind to say the least, and truthful to still is. I had a very easy and uneventful nine months, and despite a little drama with his birth, we made it through. We’ve been learning how to walk this life together for the last seven weeks, and I won’t say it’s been easy, but it has been peaceful and content.

There are so many incredible women who long so deeply to become mothers, many I know personally. And I felt and really feel a lot of guilt that it happened for me, when it wasn’t even supposed to. I’m grateful every single day for our little one. He’s an absolute blessing and a beautiful treasure. But there’s a lot of emotion good and challenging that comes with this new role.

For today, and most days, I’m trying to focus on the good. His gummy little smile that rips my heart into a million pieces. He has certainly shed brighter light on the incredible women in my own life, my own mom and the other mother figures, and all they have done for me and do for those around them. Moms are everything, today and always.

To my little Ace, thank you for letting me be your Mommy. I may not always get things right, but I know I’ll try every day. I hope you feel so loved and treasured, today and everyday.

It’s a gray and overcast day here in San Antonio, with storms projected over the next few days.

But it’s a fresh month, and typically a busy one at that - some calling it “Maycember”. With Teacher Appreciation week, Mother’s Day, graduations, and more, it’s jam packed with all the celebratory occasions. (And goodness knows we’ve got goodies for all of it and gift wrapping too - one stop shop of convenience but with all the thoughtfulness.)

I hope throughout the chaos and hustle and bustle you find the time to slow down and enjoy the little moments, and to always keep on the sunny side.

Happy Letter Writing Month!

Nothing beats that feeling of opening your mailbox to find an envelope that isn’t a bill or junk mail. We love the treasure that letters become, kept in a shoe box under your bed to be read and reread for years to come. A letter says I’m thinking about you, and took the time to slow down and write - with a real pen and paper!

With six different letter writing kits to choose from, (and hundreds of cards!), we encourage you to take the time to write this and every month. 💌

As I step away from the day to day of the shop for a little while, I know she is in good hands. It’s still hard for me to let go. This shop is my happy place just as much as it is yours.

But I’m finding peace in each moment, knowing time marches on. I hope y’all still go visit (even without me around for a little while!). We have so many amazing things coming and planned even while I’m out. (Fiesta Femme is going to be absolutely amazing this year and you don’t want to miss it!)

We are so excited to announce our third annual Fiesta Femme event!

Fiesta Femme is a celebration of all things femme - this year benefiting the Young Women’s Leadership Academy foundation scholarship fund. YWLA is San Antonio’s only public, all girls, college preparatory campus. The nationally ranked academy supports students in their journey to establish both academic and leadership skills with 100% of graduates continuing their education at the university level, many as first generation college students.

Join us April 16 for an evening in true fiesta fashion of of partying with a purpose. We will host a maker market featuring , , and , and luxury tacos served by .couture. will be back with gorgeous dried floral hair combs and a new collection of fiesta ready earrings. We will also have a brand new exclusive candle!

And of course there are VIP tickets available, which include 30 minute early entry, a swag bag worth over $100, and so much more. VIP tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, March 26th at 8pm CST. Tickets are NOT required to attend.

It’s all been a blur. And if I’m truthful, it still doesn’t feel real.

Three hours, three days, three weeks - it’s all a waiting game. I’m a ball of nerves and excitement and all the emotion all at once, and I have a feeling that will stay with me for a very, very long time.

I know the shop will be in good and capable hands while I step away. But she was my first baby. And it’s hard to let go. There’s a certain twinge of sadness I feel knowing things will never quite be the same. I’m still my own person, but with a new title, one I’m still learning how to embrace.

And yet, here we are, counting down the minutes (or hours or days or weeks). I was never very good at waiting. Patience is a virtue that I’ve long struggled with. But I’m trying to find peace in each moment as we wait for our little one’s arrival, knowing he will be right on time, whenever that may be. 💙

This time of year is always a whirlwind - events, shopping, travel - all the things. It’s me, hi, I’m the problem.

It has been over a month (?!) since I last posted… and truthfully I don’t think I’ve ever had to say that before. Sure, we show up on stories, but somehow it’s not quite the same. I think it has been a combination of focus on other projects, a lack of new content, and definitely feeling burnt out by social media (and the lack of engagement).

But after a loooong overdue shoot with the amazing Allie , I’m ready to dip my toes back into the feed waters - old school style of course. Just a beautiful image to feast your eyes on - featuring so many of our lovely new paint series cards. They are bright and happy in a world that can feel so… less than, so often.

While I’m sure most of us long for the weekends, with its slow mornings and savored sips, may we each find moments of peace at the beginning of this fresh new week. Or at least, a very strong cup of coffee. ☕️

It feels good to be back in my happy place, rested and with a fresh perspective.

Sometimes all it takes is looking at things a little differently to see them in a whole new way. ✨
