Join for a series of yummy Saturday morning yoga classes. We will be slowing down on purpose in order to learn how to conserve our energy and approach a yoga practice and thus our life in a more mindful way. Class 1 will focus on connecting our mind and body which is the fundamental principal of yoga. Class 2 will focus on the sun salutations where you learn to build the strength and flexibility for which yoga is famous. Class 3 will focus on opening the upper and lower body. Hello Spring, there is a new bud in the air!
The Esther Vexler Yoga School (EVYS) is eager to announce that we are opening our hearts to hire a new Lead Teacher for our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training.
The EVYS 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training is a well-rounded hatha yoga program, providing the basics of hatha yoga instruction including alignment, modifications and props, yoga philosophy, polyvagal theory, subtle body anatomy, mantra and more. Following the example of our namesake, our philosophy centers on our belief in every individual’s connection to community. Esther Vexler was a lifelong advocate on a wide range of causes addressing economic and social inequality in our society. For Esther, practicing yoga was necessary self-care to enable her ongoing service to our community. To honor her legacy, a commitment to equity and community service is integrated into everything that we do.
Qualified individuals are Yoga Alliance certified at the E-500 RYT level.
EVYS provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, ancestry, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age, disability, gender identity, results of genetic testing, or service in the military. Esther Vexler's ABC's of Ishvara Pranidhana...
Awareness...of yourself, your divine nature, your relationship with the divine...
Breath...breathe in this awareness of the divine, notice the joy in the breath as you do...
Centering...comes naturally when you engage with the first two...
Let yourself have this experience
Viewing Ishvara Pranidhana as an aspect of Bhakti yoga, or yoga of dedication.
Devotion to the divine is a way to surrender to the process of yoga. You get to integrate all that you love in one place, your own heart.
Ishvara Pranidhana as a practice is done for your whole life. It is the act of surrender or opening up so that you can have experiences without manipulating them.
It's helping yourself to find a way to simply "be"...either with yourself just as you are, or rest in the grace of the divine as you understand it.
As the third part of Kriya yoga, Ishvara Pranidhana is a foundational step towards opening up to the transformational process of a yoga practice.
When you release your ideas about how things are "supposed" to be, you open up to how things really are and then you are able to integrate the truth. This is not easy, but it is necessary.
But using all of the parts of Kriya yoga, tapas, svadhyaya, and ishvara pranidhana, you weave together aspects of the practice that help you let go of that which no longer serves and replace it with that which nourishes.
Sutra 2.45...from a surrendering of involvement with that which holds you back, and by placing yourself in a position of release of control, you attain a state of absorption with the the original guru, Ishvara Pranidhana.
Happy heavenly birthday to Esther Vexler 🙏🏼❤️
Esther Vexler's ABC's of Svadhyaya...
Awareness of the self, your inner landscape, what makes you do the things you do...will lead to making good decisions regarding your wellbeing.
Breath is the key to assessing and changing the harsh self talk and strong judgments.
Centering is the natural result of this steadying practice.
The Esther Vexler Yoga School will be CLOSED
Dec. 23- Jan. 1st for time with family, friends, reflection and rest. There will be no community classes. We will resume our normal schedule after the break.
