The San Bernardino Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) will be on campus TUESDAY NOVEMBER 14th from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm, along with other local organizations offering substance abuse treatment and recovery options.
Free NARCAN training and distribution is also available during the resource fair. There will also be free pizza, while supplies last.
The mini recovery resource fair takes place on Coyote Walkway, between the College of Education and SMSU North.

CSUSB Black Scholar Program hosted their first annual Black Girl Magic Summit this month with over 250 people in attendance, of those 119 were high school students.
Dr. Nicole Arkadie whom was one of the speakers shares, “It was an amazing event and highlighted some of the amazing things that are happening at CSUSB with our community engagement.” Dr. Arkadie who is an Assistant Professor with spoke on the topic of self-rescuing to address mental health needs of women, discussing strategies to improve overall well-being – topics that are also highlighted in Arkadie’s recent book: “I’m Not Crazy: Just Self-Rescuing”.
CSUSB School of Social Work hosted their Annual Title IV-E Career Day in March 2023. Over 100 social work students and community partners attended. The event focuses on providing professional development to social work students that are pursuing or continuing a career in Public Child Welfare. Key-note speaker was the Director of San Bernardino County Children and Family Services, Jeany Zepeda. Activities included Mock Interviews, resume workshop from CSUSB Career Center, and presentations from San Bernardino County Children and Family Services and Riverside County Department of Social Services. Big thanks to our County Partners for supporting our social work students!
MSW Student Michelle Sepulveda was a guest speaker at NASW in Sacramento this past week. Lobby Days is a two-day event that provides the opportunity for more than 1,200 students and professionals to learn about the legislative process with “hands-on” lobbying experience including talking with state legislators about policy issues.
Michelle shares her experience attending as “a moment that opened my eyes to a new level of love for social work that I didn’t think I had. Advocacy is social work! I hope to continue making differences in people’s hearts and one day wish to be a key-note speaker that also changes someone’s life with my story”. Michelle is a social work student in the MSW Advanced Standing Program and the school’s representative for NASW CA 23 Strong Council
