I got an opportunity to join Amar Jyoti Buddha Vihāra's 2nd annual Kathina Cīvara Dāna ceremony and deliver a short Dhammatalk at Juburicherra, Pecharthal, today (Nov.17, 2023).

Basically the Dhammatalk (Dhamma Dāna) was on RIGHT EFFORTS (Samma Vāyama) and Kathina Cīvara Dāna in brief.

Although lakhs of rupees are being expended every year on Kathina ceremonies yet I'm very much doubtful of the Kathinas in India and Bangladesh as it is not about money but the rightful conduct & performance of Kathina according to rules (Vinaya).

Most of the monasteries do not have Sīma (consecration hall) and the monks also do not know the basic rules how to perform Kathina when they do and don't have any Sīma in their monasteries.

I'm not in the support of such Kathina robe offerings ceremonies.
