The Debutantes honored and celebrated their wonderful Mothers, with assistance from their Ladies-in-Waiting, on May 18th at the annual Mother/Daughter Luncheon! This is always a sentimental highlight of the season. 🦢

May 4th Debutante Meeting on Motivation: Swans member, Mrs. Teresa Brown, presented a workshop on 10 Ways to Motivate Yourself.
"Where there’s no will, there’s no way. One of the best ways to improve your personal effectiveness is to master your motivation and find your drive."
"If you can master motivation, you can deal with life’s setbacks, as well as inspire yourself to always find a way forward, and create new experiences for yourself, and follow your growth."

It's that time of year! The 2024 Swans Club Debutante Tea is Sunday, October 6, 2024 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Join us for the first official introduction of the 2024 Swans Club Debutantes! All are welcome in your best church attire to meet and greet the six young ladies being presented this year! 🦢

Swans Club Debutante Legacies: On April 6th, former Swans Club Debutantes of the Year and family members, Dr. Robin McIver-Brown, Dr. Rhea McIver-Gibbs (sisters) and Elisabeth Archer (the daughter of Dr. McIver-Brown) delivered a powerful and motivational presentation to the 2024 Debutantes on the Legacy of The Swans Club Debutante Program. Their presentation included artifacts from their Debutante seasons, which are still apart of our program today, such as the making of the memory books. It also included interactive activities and a reading of the book “When God Made You”, which emphasizes the important message that “God was thinking about you long before your debut.” Thank you, ladies, for such a meaningful and dynamic experience for the 2024 Debutantes! 🦢

The first Image Development workshop was held for the Debutantes on Saturday, March 16th presented by Ericka and Narissa Gardner, a Mother/Daughter make up artist duo and owners of A.N.E. Glamistry. Great job!

The Swans hosted the 2024 Debutante “Get Acquainted Brunch” on Saturday, March 9th. The Debutantes and their Mothers were in attendance. A very nice time was had getting to know one another and enjoying great food! Thank you to 2021 Debutante 1st Runner Up, Dream Majors for modeling her Ball gown and showing her Tea dress to demonstrate proper attire for both events. 🦢

A New Season is Upon Us! The Swans Club Debutante Program held its 2024 Orientation Meeting on Saturday, February 17th. Several prospective Debutantes and parents were in attendance. The Swans and Debutantes are ready for another exciting year of community service, educational and personal development and scholarship opportunities. Here we go! 🦢

Community Event: The Swans Club attended the “18th Annual Rialto State of Women” this past Saturday, March 2nd. What an empowering event.

Community Event (Late Post): The Swans Club had a great time being a part of the 44th Annual Riverside Black History Parade with 2023 Debutante Zoe Gonzales. Thank you Russell Ward and all of the organizers.

Last night, 11/11/23, The Swans Club was very proud to present three very deserving young ladies at our 63rd Annual Debutante Ball!!! Congratulations to Nyemah Leilani Parker for earning Debutante of the Year and a 5,000 scholarship. Nyemah was also awarded an additional $1,000 as the Scholastic Award recipient.
Leilani Marie Woods was 1st Runner Up, earning a $3,000 scholarship and Zoe Ryannarose Gonzales earned the President’s Award, which is $1,000. Congratulations to each of the 2023 Swans Debutantes!!! 🦢 More photos and videos to come!

Each year the Swans’ Debutantes create their own memory books from scratch. Swan member, Dana Covos, held a workshop this summer. The memory books are displayed at the Debutante Tea and the Ball. Photos to come of the memory books at tonight’s Debutante Ball.

Our 2023 Debutantes have interests ranging from sciences, the medical field, business and entrepreneurship. This year’s Career Day, spearheaded by President Theresa Mays offered 5 outstanding speakers from varied career fields, as well as a delicious luncheon. The Debutantes, Escorts and Ladies-in-Waiting were in attendance.

In June, the 2023 Debutantes paid tribute to their fathers or father figures with a picnic in the park, filled with fun games, food and emotional Father’s Day tributes. The Escorts and Swans attended as well.

All high school and college students need to be well prepared for interviews. Thank you to former Debutante of the Year, Mrs. Charmaine Cole and Mr. Thomas Lynch for presenting a very informative workshop on Interview Skills and Techniques to the 2023 Debutantes.

College Preparation Workshops are a key part of our speaker series. Swans member and former Debutante of the Year, Dr. Amirah Abdullah presented an engaging and informative workshop on college preparedness with an emphasis on HBCUs. Dr. Abdullah is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University. The Debutantes are looking forward to experiencing college life!

The 2023 Image Development on Skin Care and Make Up was presented by Mrs. Ericka Gardner and her daughter, Narissa, the proprietors of A.N.E. Glamistry. So much important information about skin care was shared.

On Sunday, October 8th, the Swans Club Debutantes were formally introduced at the 2023 Debutante Tea! The Tea was held in the Fellowship Hall of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. A beautiful time was had by all. The Debutante season will culminate with a formal presentation of the Debs at the grande Ball on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

Attending Church Service in traditional hats and gloves is a way the Debutantes pay homage to the history and importance of churches in our community. On Sunday, September 10th, we attended Life Changing Ministries in San Bernardino, CA. Thank you to Dr. Reginald Woods, Senior Pastor and the congregation for having us!
