Mexico elects its first female president!!! 💖😊🙏🏻👍🏻👍🏻💫

MEXICO CITY — Claudia Sheinbaum, an environmental scientist and former mayor of Mexico City, was overwhelmingly elected Mexico’s first female president on Sunday, a historic milestone in a country rife with gender-based violence and misogyny.

With most of the votes counted, Mexico’s electoral agency estimates that Sheinbaum is on track to win the race with nearly 59% of the vote. Her closest rival, Xóchitl Gálvez is projected to get 28% of the vote, with the other opposition candidate, Jorge Álvarez Máynez, just over 10% of the vote.

Monica Loncola's aquatic watercolors are featured in a double page spread in the latest issue of Circle Foundation's Spotlight Magazine. The month of June will find Monica near Albany NY for an artist residency program with ChaShaMa North in Pine Plains. From there, she will fly to NJ and hang 23 paintings at the Oyster Point Hotel Curated Gallery Space in Red Bank, with an opening reception 7/8/22.

Ms. Loncola’s work often surprises and delights viewers as she explores the worlds of intricate patterns that exist in singular or composite subject matter and invites the viewer to a shared experience of intimate observation. Since 1980, Ms. Loncola has exhibited widely in local, state, national, and international exhibits. Her works are in numerous private and public collections.
