Nonprofit highlight: Clearity Foundation
The Clearity Foundation is a San Diego-based national ovarian cancer nonprofit organization. September not only hosts San Diego Gives' day-of-giving & day-of-service, but it's also Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, when Clearity will honor and celebrate Teal Women across the country! 💙
Founded in 2008 by scientist and survivor Laura Shawver, Ph.D., 2023 marks Clearity's 15th year of revolutionizinge the ovarian cancer experience, on person at a time. Every year, more than 22,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the US. Unfortunately, the available treatment options lag behind other cancers and can be difficult to access. Clearity is working to bring the latest research and technology to every person who is diagnosed!
Clearity takes a comprehensive, individualized approach to help those diagnosed identify the treatments that may work best against their unique disease. Assessing their medical history, as well as tumor molecular profiles and other diagnostics, Clearity professionals provide patients with the latest treatment information to discuss with their physicians to chart the most advantageous course.
An ovarian cancer diagnosis is a whole person experience, impacting nearly every aspect of a person's life. Clearity offers Ovarian Cancer Counseling from knowledgeable professionals who provide guidance and resources throughout the journey, from dealing with stress and uncertainty to talking with family members.
All of Clearity's services are available at no cost and delivered by phone or video conference across the US.
