My women’s Wellness retreat taking place in San Diego this year is underway…we are practicing yoga/Pilates, receiving Ohm and regular massage, Chakradancing and drawing mandalas, exploring San Diego…this is a profound exploration of who we are, a release of old stuck energy, and insight into how to transform our being…all while forging deep bonds and filling out batteries with oxytocin. I am deeply grateful for the love and joy filling my heart 💜💜💜
Fall is a season characterized by change: vacation days are over and its time to get back to school and work; there is less sunlight and leaves start to fall; the air cools and gets windy and dry. We are invited to adapt our rhythm and lifestyle — to shift from being outdoors playing with the world around us, to working to prepare for the coming winter.
Fall is characterized by the qualities of VATA -- movement, dryness, coolness — in Ayurveda we call this the VATA season. These qualities influence each one of us, and those of us with a VATA constitution or in the VATA phase of life, may experience greater imbalance.
Here are some General Guidelines for harmoniously navigating the Fall:
* favor warmer foods and drinks, to stay warm and hydrated
* include healthy oils and heavier foods from the earth, to help you ground
* include warm oil massage in your morning routine, to moisturize your skin
* dress warmly and keep your head covered on windy days
* practice grounding YOGA. I offer two weekly yoga classes on Zoom
- a 60 minute mindful yoga, and
- a 30 minute chair based class.

"Much of our anger stems from misunderstandings. Someone says something or does something and we misunderstand it or misinterpret the motives. Our response is a reflection of our interpretation. Thus, when we misunderstand the meaning behind someone’s words or actions, we frequently create a negative situation which did not previously exist.
We must stop and ask ourselves “What is really going on? What might be all the possible reasons that person said or did what I think he said or did?” In order to find the answer, we must be humble enough to momentarily disengage from the immediate reason and reaction which comes to our mind.
Where there is understanding there is compassion. Where there is understanding there is tolerance. Where there is understanding there is acceptance. It is the tragic lack of understanding between people that leads to much of our personal and interpersonal anguish.
In order to understand someone else, we must be prepared to place aside – even just for a moment – our own ego-centric world view. We must be prepared to look beyond our own preconceived notions of justice, righteousness and truth. We must be prepared to step out of the one-dimensional and self-centered paradigm of thought in which we typically operate.
In order to truly understand someone, we must be prepared to “stand under” them, to see them from below rather than from above. Only by removing the glasses of selfishness and superiority through which we’ve become accustomed to viewing the world can we truly see another person.
So, the next time we find ourselves outraged, shocked or pained by another person’s behavior, let us try to stand under them, to see them through our divine, unmasked eyes of humility and egolessness. Let us pray for the purity of sight and the purity of mind to see their true motivations and circumstances."

This week we completed a 10 days journey to reboot your base chakra. Participants shared that they increased their body awareness and overall grounding and calmness, and will continue using the tools they learned. Here is the quote of one of the participants:

What is the role of a yoga therapist?
As a yoga therapist, I see my role to:
- hold space for you; a safe, confidential space free of judgment
- hold light so you can see more clearly within your body, mind and spirit and explore these in a detached way
- remind you that we are not our thoughts and emotions, that we get to explore and play with them, and test the ones which resonate most with our authentic self
- guide you to release what you no longer want or need, what no longer fits or serves you
- teach you how to ground, center and attune, so you feel safe and secure, and able to connect with your instincts
- teach you how to strengthen and energize so you feel welcome, comfortable and connected to your body and it can provide you with the strength and support you need to live the life you wish
- guide your mind to a place of balance -Sattva- so you have clarity within and can connect to the wisdom of your spirit.
To reach these goals I select tools of yoga and Ayurveda that meet you where you are and support your goals.
You do ALL the work!

When fear shows it’s face:
1. Exhale deeply several times. Observe your body inhale. Unlock and release your lower jaw, let your shoulders become heavy.
2. Breathe into the earth. Sense your connection to supporting surfaces and imagine you are inhaling into the parts of your body that are physically supported by your feet or your seat or your back if you are lying down. Repeat several times until you feel you are present and grounded in your body.
3. Ask yourself “What is my intention?” What are you hoping to express, to accomplish in this moment.

Session 2 at Alpha Project women’s group today where Allison and I shared the benefits of Dinacharia/daily routines and explored body brushing or Gharshana. Body brushing on dry skin first thing in the morning is a great way to ground yourself. It helps release toxins while boosting your circulation and lymphatic systems, and your metabolism, and increases your energy. The body brushes were donated to the women participants at the homeless shelter thanks to a grant from Banyan botanicals.
From San Diego to Minneapolis with LOVE 💗 taught a virtual yoga class today 🙏🏻 so grateful for the ties that bind us and technology that melts the miles away.
