Yesterday, we gathered to say goodbye to Soraya Moghaddam, a courageous soul who fought cancer for four years before her peaceful passing on March 9th, 2024. Soraya, just nine years old, showed remarkable bravery throughout her battle, inspiring all who knew her.

Soraya's parents, Chief Petty Officer Moghaddam and Second-Class Petty Officer Lalla of the United States Navy raised her with values of honor and courage. It's fitting that Soraya was given the title of Chief Petty Officer of the United States Navy. Making Soraya the youngest female to hold such a title. Though she's left us, Soraya's spirit of bravery and love will forever guide us. Rest in peace, Soraya. Fair winds and following seas.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines “hard charger” as “very determined or ambitious; hard-driving.” While all of these qualities are true, CBMU 303 DET PEARL HARBOR would define a “hard charger” as “one local braddah from Wai’anae with a can of Red Bull.”

This week, DET PEARL said goodbye to our Officer-In-Charge, Senior Chief Constructionman Lorin Asada, who also happened to be the former Ops Chief in MAINBODY. Throughout his time with 303, CUCS Asada has had an immense impact on the wellbeing and personal development of his Seabees. Whether it was a uniform inspection, a practice board, even a stern talking-to, CUCS Asada had one goal in mind for this command: to see his unit grow individually and collectively. CBMU 303 DET PEARL HARBOR would like to thank Senior Asada for his dedicated leadership and especially his motivation.
