This week, our Source Endurance athlete is Jeffrey Gracik, who placed in at 2nd place at the Barrio Logan Grand Prix! 🚴‍♀️🏅Jeffrey has been working with Coach Taylor Warren and here's more from him on his training journey and his experience at Barrio Logan GP:

"I've been working all season to learn racing dynamics and gaining strength. Having never raced criteriums before, it has been an entirely new experience. I've gone from finishing mid-pack to finding myself on the podium with some regularity as the season has progressed. This all came together with a second place finish in Barrio Logan, a fast and technical crit. I'm super happy with the result and am eager to keep learning, getting stronger, and stepping on the box more and more."

Keep at it Jeffrey!👍

Our Source Endurance athlete of the week is Tim Smith! Tim placed in at 2nd place at Lost and Found Gravel Festival this year! 🥈Coached by Adam Mills, here's what Tim had to say about his training leading up to this race. 👇

"Although I finished 2nd this year, I improved my time from last year by almost ten minutes on the same Lost and Found course. I have worked hard and consistently this year with Adam to improve my strength and I have never felt better! Improvement much less maintenance at my age is a challenge, but doable with consistent work. I believe my overall fitness, endurance and durability are improved and will continue to improve. I am happy to still be riding and competing while maintaining good health. Given there aren't many athletes competing in my age/category, I would have had a respectable result in the 61-70 category as well!"

Great going Tim!👍

It's been almost a month since our Junior Development Training Camp!! Our Junior Development Road Camp held in partnership with USA Cycling was a fun few days with some aspiring young riders! ✨

Directed by Coach Adam Mills and Coach Taylor Warren and held at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center (CVEATC), regional training camps are a crucial step within the Athlete Development Pathway at USA Cycling.🚴

Junior cyclists aged 13-18 joined the camp to improve their skills, receive good coaching, and be identified for further race opportunities with Team USA. Instead of learning by trial-and-error in one-off race scenarios, athletes receive guidance and instruction from knowledgeable coaches working with direct assessment. With a camp experience, athletes of all abilities will come away with an accurate understanding of their level (fitness, tactics, skills, etc.), know where to race at the next level, and have opportunities to race internationally. 🤩👍

Leadville, The 100 Mile Mountain Bike Race Podcast p/b Shimano: S7E09: Mega Q&A with Leadville Camp Coach Ray Landry 07/03/2024

Our Source Endurance athlete of the week is Ray Landry, coached by Nikki Peterson. Ray has just wrapped up being a coach for the Leadville MTB camp in Colorado this past month!🚴✨

Ray Landry's cycling career began in 2016 when a friend invited him to Leadville to be part of his support team for a mountain bike race. Through volunteering during that trip he earned a position on the starting line of what would be his first ever mountain bike race, the 2017 Leadville 100MTB trail race, and fell in love with the city and race series.

2017 unfortunately led to a DNF due to a mechanical. However, armed with a coach and a burning desire to get that big buckle, he was back in 2019 for 20+ days on the course studying every foot of elevation, every mile, and riding section after section over and over at different wattage/effort to compare segment times in hopes of getting that extra 1%.

Ray's Leadville racing that year included the Stage Race and the 100-mile trail race where he earned a big buckle at both and an 8:54 in the 100-mile race. "Leadville is a passion to me. From the first start where I wasn’t sure I would finish to today where I’ll ride the whole 100-mile course for fun."

Listen in to Coach Ray speak on the Leadville 100 podcast👇🎙️

A big congrats to our Source Endurance athlete of the week, Ansel Smolund for placing in at 4th GC overall at Tour de Bloom!🚴🏅 Coach Sofia Schugar coordinated his training plan, and here's what Ansel said about his 3rd experience at Tour de Bloom:

"This accomplishment means a lot to me because I've been going to Tour De Bloom the past 3 years and have never really felt like i've brought it all together for a good weekend. This year's edition of TDB was the most competitive with a field of over 90 riders. I was able to get 4th in the TT, 5th in the crit and 6th on the final stage road race with a tough hill top finish. These results put me 4th overall in GC, just 2 seconds out of 2nd place. I was really happy with my results, and the training plan put together leading up to this event was perfectly coordinated from my coach. "
