Honor and Balsam: Wreaths Across America
This Saturday is Wreaths Across America Day. So what does that mean? That means that across America people will be going to national cemeteries and placing wreaths on veterans graves. An organization in Maine, Wreaths Across America - Official Page is responsible for raising the donations, making the wreaths and coordinating delivery to over 300 sites around the country.
Last year, over 700,000 wreaths were laid on veterans graves. Here in San Diego, you can participate at Fort Rosecrans and Miramar National Cemetery. The ceremony begins at 0900 and then volunteers go into the cemetery to lay wreaths. It is a memorable experience to help honor and remember the military veterans throughout the holidays.
Here is a great story to showcase how the wreaths get from a farm in Maine to the national cemeteries.
