On Thursday night we hosted our annual “Kaiser Night” event that bring many Pharmacy Managers and PGY1 Pharmacists throughout the San Diego county here at Skaggs School of Pharmacy to share Kaiser Permanente’s value and vision of their Health systems. The current Kaiser residents also shared their experiences before and at KP as well as career opportunities within Kaiser Permanente.

Our AMCP Chapter Board congregated at the AMCP Annual Conference this week, and presented to other schools, our organization's highlights of this school year!

Join us in congratulating second year pharmacy students students Anna To, Claire Chen, Lydia Chen and Derek Yang on their accomplishment of winning the 2019 UC San Diego Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy Pharmacy & Therapeutics Team Competition!

They placed top overall among 7 teams, making it the largest P&T competition to date. These four students will be representing UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the AMCP National P&T Finals this upcoming March.

Last night and today we had the honor of hosting, our “Value Base talk” by Dr. Doshi and the Lunch time talk by Dr. Kandilian. The Pharmacy students were able to see different perspectives from the Pharmaceutical Company and a Health Care Group.

Last Night we had the opportunity to talk to local Pre-Pharmacy students from UC San Diego and CSUSD who is applying for Pharmacy School this or next cycle. The topics ranges from PharmCAS application to Career in Pharmacy.

Today we hosted the P1 elections for VP of Communications and VP of Strategy and Correspondence. In addition, our President Trinh and President-Elect Anna gave a comprehensive overview of Managed Care's crucial role in the HealthCare systems.

Happy Friday everyone! As the local chapter of AMCP we would like to share simple facts/compounts about the managed care field. One such compound is PBM(Pharmacy Benefit manager). They are entities that could be independent or a department under an insurance plan that help administer benefits and plan designs by making decisions regarding prescribing and utilization of medications. Furthermore, they are involved in developing, administering networks of Pharmacies, such as a chain of retail pharmacies, mail order and specialty pharmacy. They can also manage their own Clinical Review center where Prior Authorization is Reviewed.

Today we introduced P1 to our AMCP Chapter here at UC San Diego. And Invited everyone to our very first social events!

Hello everyone. We invite everyone to join us for the 11th Annual AMCP Western Regional Conference. This year conference will be hosted by USC AMCP on Saturday, July 7th to Sunday, July 8th at the Ronald Tutor Campus Center (3607 Trousdale Pkwy, Los Angeles, CA 90089) at the USC Main Campus. The theme is the “Evolving Landscape of Healthcare” and the conference will touch upon topics like preparing for residency/fellowship, managed care in industry, inpatient, community, and ambulatory care settings, as well as specialized topics such as value-based contracting and new care models. Early bird pricing is $65 for students.
