Dark Moon - New Moon
September 2nd 6:55pm PST
Dark Moon
The Dark of the Moon refers to the time of the waning crescent but before the first visible crescent of the New Moon. For Witches, Dark Moon is sacred to the Goddess in her aspect as The Crone, She who embodies the wisdom and transformative power that comes with age and experience. She is the archetype of the Elder Woman, the Seer, and the Healer. In the realm of shadow work and the Dark Moon, the Crone plays a significant role. She guides us to delve deep into our inner selves, encouraging introspection and the exploration of our hidden fears, wounds, and suppressed emotions.
The Dark Moon, sacred to the Crone, provides an opportune time for this inner work. It is during this phase that we are encouraged to confront our shadows, those aspects of ourselves that we tend to avoid or reject. The Crone's energy supports us in facing our fears, healing past traumas, and transforming negative patterns. She helps us release what no longer serves us, allowing space for personal growth and the emergence of our authentic selves. Through the Crone's guidance and the energy of the Dark Moon, we can embrace the power of shadow work and embark on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and spiritual transformation.
The Dark Moon in Virgo invites us to address personal tendencies toward perfectionism, over-criticism, and an overwhelming need for control. Through self awareness and with self-compassion, we can confront these shadow sides of Virgo and develop a healthier relationship with ourselves by embracing our imperfections and easing our critical mindset. This leads to greater self acceptance, healthier relationships, and a more relaxed and harmonious approach to life.
New Moon
The New Moon begins at the first visible waxing crescent after the Dark Moon. For Witches, the New Moon is sacred to the Goddess in her aspect as the Maiden.
The Maiden aspect of the Goddess represents youthfulness, possibilities, and new beginnings. She embodies the energy of growth, potential, and exploration. As she is closely connected to the New Moon, she also symbolizes fresh starts and setting intentions.
The New Moon provides a powerful opportunity to align with the Maiden's energy and harness the magic of new beginnings. It is a time to plant seeds of intention and embark on new ventures. The Maiden's presence during this lunar phase encourages us to embrace curiosity, embrace our inner child, and approach magic with a sense of wonder and openness.
By working with the Maiden aspect of the Goddess during the New Moon, we can tap into our creative potential, manifest our desires, and embrace the transformative power of magic. It is a time to explore new magical practices, set intentions for personal growth, and embrace the enchantment of the unknown.
Inspired by the grounded energy of the Moon in Virgo, this is a moment to focus on practical goals, set intentions for self-improvement and growth, and thoughtfully refine your skills. Tap into Virgo's precision, express your true self through purposeful actions, and initiate projects that align with your core values.

New Moon Solar Eclipse
in Aries
Monday April 8th
11:21am PST
A New Moon occurs when the Moon is positioned between the Earth and the Sun, with its dark side facing Earth. This alignment causes the Moon to appear invisible or extremely faint in the sky, blending into the brightness of the Sun's rays. It marks the beginning of the lunar cycle and is characterized by a lack of visible Moonlight from Earth's perspective. This particular New Moon is very special because it coincides with a Solar Eclipse.
Solar Eclipses are known to intensify the energies of the New Moon. We may find that their intentions and desires are magnified during this time, making it an opportune moment to focus on specific goals or intentions. This will also be a time of alignment between the energies of the Sun, Moon, and Earth; we can use this alignment to attune ourselves to the natural rhythms of the Universe, connecting with the elemental energies and cosmic forces that influence magical workings.
The New Moon is a sacred time for the Goddess in her youthful form as the Maiden, symbolizing potential, creativity, and discovery. During this phase, we are called to look inward for inspiration, to engage in playful and challenging activities that help us uncover our true potential.
Magically speaking, it is also a good time for planting seeds of intention. By contemplating what we hope to achieve in the upcoming lunar cycle and taking actionable steps towards our goals, we can plant the seeds that will eventually bear fruit.
During this New Moon in Aries, we are invited to harness our inner fire, to take bold steps towards our desires and to trust in our ability to achieve our aspirations. As the first sign of the zodiac, Aries represents new beginnings, leadership, and initiative. Aries energy is passionate, enthusiastic, and courageous, and we are called upon to channel these qualities to make positive changes in our lives.
However, it's essential to balance our enthusiasm with strategic planning and thoughtfulness to ensure that we make wise decisions that align with our values and long-term goals. We must also be mindful of the potential for impatience, impulsiveness, and even aggression that can arise with this energy.
Overall, the New Moon invites us to delve deeper into our inner selves, to set intentions and take actionable steps towards our goals, and to tap into our inner strength and creativity to make positive changes in our lives. The Solar Eclipse will magnify and amplify most magical workings, so be careful what you wish for β you just might get it!
Full Snow Moon
4:30 am PST
The Full Moon is the lunar phase when the Moon appears fully illuminated from Earth's perspective. This occurs when the Earth is located directly between the Sun and the Moon.
On February 24th we celebrate the Full Snow Moon, also known as the Storm Moon, and the Hungry moon. In North America this is typically the month in which the more snow falls than at any time in the year. The Algonquin Native Americans called this the Hunger Moon, as in the distant past food was difficult to come by at this time.
This is the first Full Moon after Imbolc. Though we are still gripped in Winter's chilly grasp, Ostara, the Spring Equinox is only a month or so away. This is a good time to stop, take stock and evaluate ourselves and our lives, and then cast off that which no longer serves or has purpose. Cleansing both spiritually and physically ourselves and our surroundings allows us to prepare for the coming Spring.
The Full Moon is sacred to the Goddess in Her aspect as the Mother, She who is the Nurturer, the Healer, and Giver of Life. She is also the Revealer of Truth, banishing the darkness in the Fullness of Her Light. In the Full of the Moon she helps us to focus our intent and literally manifest our desires into reality. This is a great time for Cleansing Magic, Prosperity Magic, Healing Magic, and Love Magic.
Thursday January 25
Full Wolf Moon
9:54am PST
The Full Wolf Moon, also known as the Snow Moon or the Ice Moon, is the name given to the Full Moon in January. Originating from Native American Algonquin Tribes, the Wolf Moon was so called because of the increase in activity of wolves as they begin theyβre annual breeding season. The symbolism of the Wolf Moon embodies qualities of endurance, resilience, and the spirit of community, inspiring us to embrace the power of unity and cooperation in the face of adversity.
As the first Full Moon after the Winter Solstice, we are still locked in Winterβs cold embrace, but we can sense the faintest of stirrings of warmth as the days grow longer and we move closer to Springβs release. The stillness of the light of this Full Moon is the perfect environment to release old energy, negative patterns, and emotional baggage that may have accumulated during the previous year, and to reflect and prepare for our goals and aspirations for the coming year.
For Witches, this Full Moon is sacred to the Goddess in her aspect as the Mother, she who is the embodiment of nurturing, healing, and life-giving energies. She is the Revealer of Truth, dispelling darkness with the radiance of her Light. The Mother Goddess aids in the manifestation of our desires and helps us concentrate our intent during the Full Moon. This phase is ideal for performing various types of magic, such as Cleansing Magic, Prosperity Magic, Healing Magic, and Love Magic.
As we gaze upon the January Full Moon, let us be reminded of the profound connection we share with the Moon and the Earth. It is a time to honor the quiet majesty of winter, to cherish the moments of stillness, and to embrace the illuminating power of the moon's light. In the heart of winter's chill, the Full Wolf Moon reminds us that even amidst the frost, there is warmth and brilliance, guiding us through the depths of winter toward the promise of a new year.
