Problems with #lymphatic flow? Make sure you are stretching the hip flexors and releasing the diaphragm. Many people with postural problems, like airway restriction and rib flares have this chronically, tense and tight and then have issues with their lymphatic and bowel movement . They then spend lots of money on supplements to help move their lymphatic fluid, when you actually have to move the fluid the supplements won’t move it. Your diaphragm actually has to move properly in order to pump fluid up and down. So using your diaphragm in this breathing technique can help pump fluid. This is also a technique known in martial arts as #reversebreathing. This is not breathing you want to do all the time, but you can use it to help pump fluid, and also while you are stretching and releasing muscles to get fluid moving better. Tools can sometimes be amazing to track progress. This is a really inexpensive tool I’ve been playing around with the track the resistance when I nasal breathe. This is called a PIFM. The higher the number the more open your passageways. Many think they can nasal breathe, but their capacity is actually really low, decreasing the oxygen ability. Even though I’ve had my palate expanded, Myofunctional therapy, tongue tie release and nutritional work, I’m still not optimal, which means I still have some work to do!! I see this quite a bit after releasing the cranium of tension internally, afterwards someone in their lower back has a huge increase in range of motion. How? The body is all connected and this #fascia system starts inside your head around your brain and spinal cord into your tongue and down the rest of your body. When you start unwinding these patterns your nervous system doesn’t have to rely on those protective mechanisms anymore, it’s quite amazing. Most tension is #neurological, you need to figure out why the brain is doing it, but in some cases like fascia restrictions in the tongue it can also be structural. as an adult, if you’re going to get your Tongue Tie released, make sure you do nervous system work, fascia, release, cranial work, tongue therapy before going right in and releasing it. Alright so a little backstory before I get into it. This patient we have been working on her structure for awhile but her left neck and shoulder continually lock up in tension. No matter how much it’s stretched-> gets tight again… why? It’s neurological. We found that one eye works different from the other, meaning they weren’t teaming together. When your eyes don’t team or converge together, it puts a massive stress on your brain. And creates neurological tension patterns as well as your brain continuing in sympathetic dominance. So here we are just using color therapy to calm down the vision and calm down the brain and see if that affected her shoulder range of motion. Now we know, definitively that her eyes are one of the biggest factors that are contributing to this one-sided tension pattern in her body. After this, she’ll go to the neurologist ophthalmologist and get a proper examination, do some vision therapy, and we will continue with colored therapy. Mid neck problems are Tmj/airway problems. One of the most common areas is the mid neck C3 C4 C5 region that is constantly under stress because of the tug-of-war between the jaw and the rest of the body in gravity. This is a neurological input. And not a result of not enough neck tucks. this patient specifically cannot breathe effectively through their nose for many years which lead to degeneration in this area of the neck and problems into the shoulders and arms as a result. Fixing of these areas of the neck requires a full body approach. You need to change the neurological reasons that your head jaw and neck are going forward and the rest of your body is pulling backward. Your skin is highly innervated, but additionally, there are lots of different channels called meridians that go along different areas of your skin.
