Giving Tuesday Horse Shelter Winter Roof Repair:
WINTER IS COMING! Buttercup loves her box stall but when it rains water comes right through the roof of Buttercup's shelter and into her stall. The plywood roof has rotted and Buttercup struggles to stay dry. The ground in her box stall floods and we work continually all winter long to drain it and give Buttercup a dry place to sleep.
The other horses: Smokey, Max, and Paddington, also have significant leaks in their shelters' roofs. Their shelters have corrugated galvanized steel roofs which are rusted and full of holes. The steel pipes that hold up these roofs are also rusty, rotted and need of repair.
These horses spend their days helping people become more relaxed, more confident, and more physically capable. On this Giving Tuesday, help us fund the materials needed to improve our horses' shelters roofs. Help us keep these horses dry and happy through the cold and wet winter season. Click Here to give..And the horses thank you!!!

More views of the beautiful life of most beloved Jose
On this day of remembering lost loved ones, let’s celebrate the life of the most beloved horse, Smart like Jose. Jose was euthanized to end his suffering from chronic knee and leg pain July 5th, 2023.
Jose was born as reining royalty and spent many years in the shown pen earning many plaques, trophies, buckles and ribbons. He travelled all over the country and taught many people how to ride a reining horse. In 2016 he was a bronze medalist at the World Para Reining championships in Oklahoma City, OK for Team Netherlands. He also competed in ranch riding, cowboy challenges, team penning and ranch sorting. He could go a reining show over the weekend, pony colts on Monday, sort cows Tuesday and go for a ba****ck trail ride on Wednesday. A true versatile American Quarter Horse.
Katie Gibson generously allowed San Diego Therapeutic Horsemanship to utilize Jose in his retirement. Jose was an amazing Therapeutic practitioner. Jose was SMART. He was clever and figured out how to communicate his needs and get what he wanted. He liked to play people and would find silly ways to get your attention like by grabbing your belt loop.
Jose was GORGEOUS! Even on his last days Jose had the most brilliant chestnut coat that glowed a copper color in the sunlight, full mane and a long slightly burgundy colored tail. Jose was virtually ‘bomb proof’ and stood patiently as unsure beginning students practiced mounting and dismounting over and over again. Jose helped many, many find confidence in their ability to ride horses. Jose, every day we miss you.
Thank you Heidi Trowbridge!!!! For your generosity and making our horses more comfortable!!! We greatly appreciated your kindness and attention to detail.
