🌟Did you know that UCSD has a pantry that serves its student body? It’s hard to believe with the workload these young adults have, they are also facing food insecurity. Cool information about The Triton Food Pantry:

👉Items are assigned a point value, and a student is able to pick up 15 points worth of food per week.

👉Registered UC San Diego students paying tuition fees can utilize the pantry.
At the food pantry, a variety of dried goods, canned goods, and fresh produce are available to students.

👉Triton Food Pantry provides a range of services, including care packages, emergency food relief, basic needs events, & various pop-up locations on campus.

🌟Every year, Feeding San Diego provides more than 35.4 Million meals to local families in need. Your participation in our food drive will directly impact the lives of these families, ensuring they have access to nourishing meals and hope. Some fun facts about Feeding San Diego:

👉Feeding San Diego not only focuses on feeding the hungry but also on protecting the planet. In July 2022 - June 2023, rescued and distributed 76% (31,001,992 lbs.) high-quality food before it went to waste, redirected more than 31 million pounds of food from the landfill, and saved roughly 27,592 metric tons of CO2 equivalent from being emitted into the atmosphere in total.

👉Rescued food from grocery and retailers, farms and packing sheds, hotels, restaurants, convenience stores, and caterers.

👉Helps various groups in the community, including children, families, seniors, college students, military families, veterans, and the unhoused.

👉Worked with 350 distribution partners, 770 food donors, 120 farms and packing sheds, 22,200+ volunteers, 15,600 donors, and 75 staff to help people facing hunger.

Here are just a few things the San Diego Food Bank is doing to support the San Diego Community:

👉Rescued 3,966,541 pounds of food in 2022 from food distributors, grocery stores, and restaurants through the Food Rescue Program in partnership with 60 countywide nonprofits.

👉Distributes food directly to families and individuals in need at more than 200 distribution sites throughout the county every month, often in parking lots.

👉Provides food to more than 500 nonprofits that operate feeding programs.

👉Provides 14 programs to help the community, including Neighborhood Distribution Program, Emergency Food Program, Senior Food Program, Food to Nonprofits Program, CalFresh Outreach Program, Diaper Bank Program, Period Supply Program, Food 4 Kids Backpack Program, Nutrition & Wellness, North County Food Bank Client Services, College Hunger-relief Program, Community Cares Program, Food Bank University, and Fresh Rescue.
