Come join San Diego AAZK’s conservation fundraiser: Trivia for Rhinos! This is a fresh take on our yearly Bowling for Rhinos event, where we compete against other AAZK chapters to raise the most money for conservation! We will support the Lewa Conservancy in Kenya, International Rhino Foundation in Indonesia, and Action for Cheetahs Kenya. Wonderland Ocean Pub has kindly offered to host this year’s event, and they are also donating a percentage of that night’s sales towards our in-situ rhino efforts. So be sure to crash by Wonderland on Wednesday, November 8th from 3-7pm. We will sip, we will score (trivia points!), and we will save the rhinos! 🦏💗🍻

There will be basketball games to watch 🏀, board games to play 🎲, and yummy drinks & snacks to purchase 🥨🍻. Funds from this event will be donated to Limbe Wildlife Center in Cameroon, a sanctuary for many injured and orphaned mandrills. Shout out to our awesome members for helping us clean up Mission Beach yesterday! It was so much fun to get outside and clean up our beaches. Missed this clean up? Don't worry, we have decided to commit one day in the first week of every month to cleaning up our city and helping the marine life. Our next clean up will be Thursday, April 6th in Balboa Park. We hope to see you out there!

Our board election results are in! Welcome to our new Vice President, Mandy Parker, our newest board member, Caitlyn Thai, Yvette Kemp, our returning Treasurer, and Bailey Higa, returning Social Media/PR. We are so excited about what's to come this year!

TUESDAY: It's beach clean-up time! Time: 3pm. Place: Ventura Cove Park. This area sees an amazing amount of traffic from boats, beach-going families, swimmers, and snorkelers. It always has a very high quantity of trash around the parking area and in the sand. A team of us can make a huge difference to the marine life and the humans that frequent this place by clearing out this waste. We'll see you there!

Beach Clean-Ups

Our chapter gets together at local beaches and cleans them up! This is a great way to network, hang out, and do some good for our local community. Oftentimes, this is a great event that can be casual and help us recruit new members. Our style generally involves happy hour after the cleanups. Save our oceans!

What a fantastic morning cheering on the runners of the Carlsbad Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5k! We had a blast volunteering and making this water station a place of animal onesies, support, and hydration! 🦏💦❤️ Shout out to all of the runners—you’re amazing! 🥳

Help us distribute water, cheer on the runners, run, and decorate our area to be the best water station in the race!

After big storms like we have been seeing this past week, trash inevitably gets blown around and washed up to our shorelines. This is when hitting the beach with a picker and buckets is most important!

Join us next Thursday at 3pm to do some good and clean up the beach! If you have pickers and/or gloves, bring them, if not, we got you covered! We will meet at South Mission Beach at the restrooms near the volleyball courts. See you there!
