Heavy Body VPS is a highly retentive liner for the QuickSplint tray. It fills the tray around your patient's dentition and is easy to trim. This photo shows a QuickSplint for the upper arch, where the patient shaped excess VPS on the roof of their mouth. It's best to over fill the tray with VPS, and then trim to fit.

Helping your patient understand and manage parafunction can help prevent tooth wear, tooth fracture, tmj injury or disorder. QuickSplint combined with the Parafunction Risk Rating protocol allows you to identify risk and develop a treatment strategy.

06/17/2024

QuickSplint worn at night is the easiest way to protect your endo, periodontal or implant placement from micro-trauma.

06/13/2024

The Parafunction Risk Rating Protocol was developed with help from Dr. John Weston (can we tag) and Dr. Lee Ann Brady as a simple way to engage your patient in understanding their bruxism and its impact on your treatment planning. The patient wears the QuickSplint for 2 to 4 weeks and returns for discussion – are anterior veneers appropriate? Do they need an occlusal guard? This is also an easy way to habituate a patient to splint therapy. FREE downloads at QuickSplint.com.

06/09/2024

Quick Tip: Deprogram simple and safely at night. The design using VPS creates a self-leveling QuickSplint in the anterior region, allowing the condyles to seat. Made chairside, the patient wears at night until the next appointment to take bite records.

06/05/2024

Trimming the QuickSplint®: we say trim the VPS or putty edge to edge (image shown is for an upper arch). This QuickSplint was made with putty and the patient muscle-molded with their lips. You can trim the VPS to avoid contact with the gingiva – it’s your call. See how the retention hole is filled – you don’t need adhesives if you fill both retention holes and the midline slot.

Quick Tip: Provide your patients with a QuickSplint to wear at night, and a daytime Jaw Rx-Ercises to help with their clenching. QuickSplint helps your patients transition to a long-term appliance.

Using QuickSplint to diagnose Bruxism is simple and cost effective. Your patient wants a new smile and has severely worn teeth. How did this happen? How active, how severe is her bruxism? Discuss your treatment planning goals and the possibility that she may need to protect your restorations with a full arch appliance.Wearing the QuickSplint for a few weeks and following this simple set of steps will engage your patient in her condition and confirm your choice of materials and protection. Download at QuickSplint.com.

Use QuickSplint as:
• Protection of teeth and restorations from injury due to bruxism or clenching
• Temporary relief of muscle tension, headaches and pain associated with bruxism or clenching
• Temporary treatment of Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) along with the relief of associated headaches and pains

05/12/2024

Preventing jaw sprain/strain from long dental procedures is outlined in the SAFE Protocol. Help your patients with dental anxiety or limited range of motion.

05/04/2024

QuickSplint is designed for dentists who don't have time to make short-term appliances. If you are a general dentist or specialist that has not used temporary bite planes in your practice, then see our clinical guidelines under Resources at QuickSplint.com

04/30/2024

Jaw Pain is not always TMD – consider an ankle sprain or wrist sprain. Often patients have jaw joint and muscle sprain/strain. Normally the TMJ will adapt to injury or prolonged stretching within 2 to 4 weeks, but clenching and muscle hyperactivity is a response to pain and often patients are suffering from dysfunction and distraction. You may be surprised, but often patients go to Urgent Care rather than call their dentist. Use this flyer in your waiting room, or near your check out station. This flyer never mentions TMJ disorders – and this is intentional. Maybe they just have a sprain/strain that you can address easily and cost-effectively.

04/26/2024

Your hygienist alerts you to the situation. You want to help your patient get some relief, so you have your assistant make him a QuickSplint temporary bite plane to wear at night for three weeks and provide him HEALS Self-Care Measures and Jaw Rx-Ercises, daytime exercises to help with tension headaches and jaw pain. Your team makes a follow-up phone call in two days to see if he is feeling better. If he is feeling improved with the use of QuickSplint, your staff schedules him for an appointment for long-term appliance therapy.

04/22/2024

Jaw and Muscle Sprain/Strain (JAMSS) from dental procedures that prolong stretching of the temporomandibular joints (TMJ), ligaments and/or muscles of mastication can be addressed easily. If you see your patient struggling to keep their jaw open, give them a copy of the H.E.A.L.S Self-Care measures(you can download at QuickSplint.com) Tell your patient to call tomorrow if they are in pain, because they can come in for a QuickSplint that you can provide for immediate, short-term pain relief.

04/18/2024

What is the most important thing to remember about treating jaw injury?

Don’t wait. When trauma leads to jaw sprain or strain, it is important for it to be diagnosed and treated promptly – if possible on the same day. Speed-to-Treat. Expeditious treatment may prevent unnecessary progression to chronic pain and its long-term consequences and complexity in management.

04/14/2024

During the day, patients with limited jaw opening or clenching should perform Jaw Rx-Ercises. Download the form, or purchase our Jaw Rx-Ercises tear-off notepad at QuickSplint.com.

04/10/2024

JAMSS: Jaw and Muscle Sprain/Strain. No prior history of jaw pain. Sudden, acute and localized pain. Is this a dental or a medical condition? We developed the JAMSS Protocol for early initiation of treatment for jaw sprain/strain before it progresses to trismus or chronic TMD disorder. The JAMSS Protocol can be administered by dental, medical or allied healthcare providers. Incidentally, we find PT and DC’s that instruct their patients to buy a boil-and-bite online. Wouldn’t you rather keep your patient in your practice?Download the JAMSS Protocol at QuickSplint.com.

04/06/2024

Risks of anterior bite planes: we provide patient instructions that QuickSplint is designed for short-term use only and patients need to return to your office. QuickSplint can be used for a few days for post-op healing or deprogramming, or a few weeks for diagnosing bruxism. You call the shots.

04/02/2024

Developed by Dr. Bruce Crispin, the Helping Hand reduces the risk of jaw and muscles sprain/strain from opening too wide, or for too long. We are pleased to incorporate the Helping Hans into the SAFE Protocol for Prevention of Jaw Joint and Muscle Injuries (JAMSS) during dental treatments. Visit QuickSplint.com to learn more!
