Watching kids enjoy the hunt as well as the harvest, will never get old. 61 yellowtail 1 Dorado.
Located several schools of good grade yellowtail today and managed to land 33 with the SE Pipe private charter
One sweep of the binoculars can change the whole day. 9 bluefin 79 yellowtail for our private charter.
28 bluefin 65 yellowtail. Good action!
30 bluefin. Belly or shoulder hooked baits on 30-40lb line were the ticket.
50 bluefin. The anglers who fished the most baits, caught the most fish. Change your bait, change your luck!
9 bluefin 38 yellowtail 2 dorado. A couple lucky stops made our day for the Bycor private charter.
10 bluefin 2 yellowtail. The tuna seemed a little tired after yesterday’s party.
Charter master Tim Alvarez with one of the 60 bluefin his group landed today. Took some time to locate some fish but when we did they were eager to bite our flylined baits on 30-40lb line.
Bottom of the ninth yellowtail hit for one of our favorite charter groups!
Schools were hard to come by today, fortunate for our opportunity. 17 bluefin 1 yellowtail 1 bonito.
Limits of bluefin and 65 bonito. The Ol Boy charter is very familiar with the phrase “never give up” and in the 9th inning they were rewarded with one of the best stops of the season.
24 bluefin 20 yellowtail. Took awhile to locate a school of tuna but one school provided a worthy opportunity.
35 bluefin tuna 21 yellowtail 100 Bonito. Perfect weather and plenty of action.
6 yellowtail, 21 bonito. If you grew up in the 619 you have certainly heard the phrase. “Wind from the South, Fish close their mouths.” Strong Southerly winds made today’s hunt difficult.
The San Diego Anglers private charter opted to fish the Coronado Islands and enjoyed some shallow water action. 76 yellowtail 55 bass 7 barracuda 1 halibut.
17 bluefin up to 100lbs. Plenty of fish around but hard to get a bite.
46 bluefin 14 yellowtail. Good action on 20-60lb tuna. The angler who kept a healthy bait in the water was greatly rewarded.
12 bluefin. Plenty of schools around but hard to get one to stick around the boat.
Another impressive performance from our local bluefin tuna.
18 bluefin tuna 38 bonito. Flyline baits on 25,30 and 40 lb with a size 2 hook. C**t Snipers in the 100 gram range fished on 40&50 lb.
28 bonito for our private charter
Spent majority of the day aiming at various spots of bluefin and a majority of the time they would elude us. We came home with 1 bluefin 2 yellowtail 66 bonito.
1 bluefin 1 bonito. Saw tuna from 20-200lbs, getting a bite was hard, landing them was even harder.
3 bluefin 1 yellowtail. We see fish from 5-250lbs, having a 40lb flyline rod and a 100lb rod would cover most everything.
San Diego Regular David Kyle has been fishing with his daughter for a few years now. Watching their relationship and passion for the ocean has been very inspiring. 30 minutes ago, David landed this 175 lb bluefin, One of several hooked. Don’t Forget to pack the heavy gear.
4 bluefin. After yesterday’s big hit the bluefin decided to do what bluefin do, go missing! Couple shots late in the day gave us a glimmer of hope for the future.
One stop shop for 50 bluefin. Flylined baits on 30-40lb line worked best. Having a rod to fish a sniper style jig on 50-60lb and a 80-100lb rod to fish a sinker rig is still highly recommended.
25 bluefin on deck with time left on the clock. Don’t wait till it’s too late, grab your spot before they are gone!
The annual CCA charter braved the sloppy seas and were rewarded with 3 yellowtail and 108 Bonito.
