Fire burned the Extension this week. First it was contained and then reignited by gusts of wind. The next day, fire ravaged the land, and yesterday we heard about another small fire in another part of the Extension. to the fire department and its brave firefighting staff, to our colleagues at , and to local residents for quickly complying with orders. Spotted at Crest Canyon: this rare tiny succulent (Dudleya brevifolia) only found in 5 locations around the world, in an area roughly 8 square miles centered around the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. Kudos to our Docent friends for sharing this find!
